| Haven't gotten the book yet but am planning on it. But from some resources, I've been told that he says eating a high fiber diet is not really necessary & that we should be eating more fat & that fat will help things move along just as well as fiber will. Am I hearing the right information here? I've always known for me-that the higher my fat intake, the leaner I look-even if I haven't lost any weight. But I never knew fat was supposed to help along in that other way, too. That was news to me. |

| I've found from experience that eating more fat works better than eating more fiber for getting things moving, without gas and bloating. Just adding a little extra fat each day can make a big difference for me. When I have coconut oil regularly, it helps with regularity, although irregularity is not usually a problem for me. And personally, I think that fat tastes a whole lot better than fiber. |

| Hmmmm, now this is interesting, because I have been focusing more on fiber and to be honest the first go around I ate more fats and the weight that I am now is showing more inches than the same weight when I ate more fats. Hmmmm, now I have a new revelation here. wow thanks yall

| I absolutely HAVE to have 15 at least grams of fiber every day in order to "keep things moving." While the fat is needed, I know, it doesn't seem to be the key for me. For me, it's the water. Peace, Peg |

| Sorry, I don't know what Taubes has to say about it. I haven't screwed up the energy to tackle his book yet--and besides, there's been so much commentary, I feel like I've learned the highlights. My daily staple for breakfast is an OMM. It's got a huge slug of fiber (wheat bran and flaxseed meal), an equally huge slug of fat (coconut oil and cream cheese), and a slug of protein (egg and a little protein powder). This puppy keeps me totally unhungry until lunch. Plus I throw in a lot of cinnamon, which has recently been touted as the cure for everything. ![]() For the record, I average about 55-65% fat when I'm just eating a normal LC diet. Salads and veggies (with the muffin) add up to 15-25 gms of fiber. I consider this my secret for a very happy digestive system, and textbook "regularity." |

| Fiber seems to be important to me. I tend towards constipation otherwise. What I like about fat is that it seems to satisfy my appetite longer. When I was doing low fat, I was always hungry. The real deep if you don't eat you are going to pass out kind of hunger. I can now literally skip lunch if I am busy, and not realize i've done it. I don't think I have heard of Gary Taubes. If you get the book you will have to let me know what he says. Judy
