| Hi all, Well, I've stalled again. Well to be exact I've gained and lost the same two pounds for over 10 days. I recently increased my carbs to 25 per day. Actualy averageing 25.43 to be exact. When I initially added the 5 more carbs I had a 3.5 lbs weight loss. Now I am fighting the same two pounds. I drink between 64 and 128 ozs. of water a day. The Bayer Keto sticks say "Moderate" so I feel fine about that (of course I could be eating too much fat!). Sometimes all the things you have to sort through seems depressing! Can some of the more experienced LC'ers out there take a look at my menus for the last two weeks and see if I am missing hidden carbs or something? Any words of encouragement today would be helpful! | How long have you been at 25 carbs per day? It might be time to up them again... What's your activity, and water intake look like? (296/226.5/135) 04/01/03 The Downward Spiral Begins |

| Without looking at your diet, it appears that you're about 10 weeks into this plan, and you're just NOW increasing to 25 carbs. I think I started about the same day, and I'm around the 50 mark now. I'd say increase the carbs, make sure you're exercising regularly, and drink LOTS of H20. John 202/176/170 |

| Generally, I'd say your food choices look pretty good. One area for improvement would be more LC veggies. I also got to a point where I was gaining and losing the same 2 - 3 lbs over and over. Things that worked early on were no longer working for me, and I had to tweak my eating plan. It's only been 10 days in your case; but if this keeps happening for a month, maybe you'll need to tweak your eating plan, too. As I got closer to goal, it helped to increase the veggies. Watching my portion sizes for other foods also helped. I cut back on sausage, nuts, cheese, and ready-made protein drinks. Additionally, I started having smaller portions of meat. I also started eating fish and chicken more often than beef and pork. I do think upping your good veggie carbs is a good idea. ~~~Teelbee 174 (Mar. 2002, highest weight), 164 (Jan. 2003, begin LC) 164/135/137-134 remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic |

| just a few things i noticed in digging through your tummy contents =) caffeine. i see you drinking up to 5 cups a day of regular coffee. some people do have problems stalling with caffeine, and you seem to be getting a lot of the stuff on some days. it may be worth trying to cut it down a bit. nuts. another common stall culprit. im not sure but it looks like they were a fairly recent addition also. something to add to the "could be these" pile. water. following common recommendations, you should be drinking about 120oz a day. this should be over any amount of coffee you are drinking. scales =) looks like you started weighing on a daily basis for the last half of your weight loss journey. i'd encourage you to lay off the scale and dont get on more than once a week. daily and even weekly fluctuations happen normally. daily weighing generally causes much more stress than any benefit it gives. time =) looks like you have dropped nearly 50 pounds in 3.5 months. thats a lot of weight!! your body may just need time to adjust. plateaus happen naturally as we lose weight. just keep plugging along, and dont really worry about it unless it stretches out into a 4-6 week stall. then you should start to look for causes =) Erin atkins since 12/2/02 preggo and lcing! |

| Red~ It appears that you're averaging a weight loss of more than 4 pounds per week - stall, schmall!! If anything, I think your overall intake is a little low, although the content of your diet looks good. Hey, if it ain't broke.... Sky 186/144/under 150 |

| Here's what I'd do to get things going again: Ditch the peanut butter Squash can be considered to be high glycemic to some...do without it and see what happens UP YOUR GREEN VEGGIES A LOT such as: cucumbers, broccoli, celery, iceberg lettuce, spinach, green beans, radishes (you're not eating enough green veggies) What the heck is a Precious-Cheddar Stick? Don't eat any pre-packaged Atkins or low carb products The Brussel Sprouts are a bit high in carbs No nuts Read "Possible help for newbies" in the newbies section and make sure you're not ingesting sugar in whatever form (most peanut butters have sugar and 5 tablespoons is a lot, IMHO). Now, I'm not telling you to never eat this stuff again. You said you wanted to get things moving again and I believe this will do the trick. | I agree with Skylark. You're doing fine. Listen, if you're in ketosis, you don't need to cut back on anything at all. If anything, you should feel experiment by adding more carbs, but that's up to you. What you're doing is fine and it will show eventually. *********************** "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. | Thanks for all the tips! It will really help. I upped my water to 128 oz starting yesterday. And I held back the nuts today. Only two ounces of slivered blanched almonds with my salad at lunch. The peanut butter was 100% peanuts and salt (perhaps too much salt). I bought it special for my evening snack. I'll try reducing that to zero and see what happens. Peanut butter lasts a long time I'm Precious-Cheddar Sticks are Cheddar Cheese sticks made by Precious (same guys that make Ricotta). The package says zero carbs per stick which is an ounce. I have these at work for my mid-morning snack (sometimes mid-afternoon I just lump them together). These have staved off the hunger pains around 10:00 and at 3:00. Scales, well I decided today to "stop the insanity" and switch to once a week. I am going on a cruise next month and am buying a Tux to wear to the captians dinner. I just wanted to be as small as possible before buying it. However the deadline is here. Argh! Would it be better to eat a larger salad at lunch so that I don't get hungry mid-afternoon. I really do like the packaged salad mixes, they are so convenient. Again thanks for the advice. Just knowing that I have somewhere that ppl are experiencing the same things helps alot.
