| I've always been kind of hit and miss with my water intake. I'd get my gallon 3 times per week and then some days I'd be really bad and have about 16oz. Last week I committed to drinking a gallon of water/day. I changed nothing else in my routine. Same exercise, same food. Well, this weigh-in, I lost 3#! I don't know whether to thank the Whoosh Fairy or the water! I guess I'll take the loss from whoever is giving it!!! Cheers! Jen Started Atkins 5.5.03 196/181.5/155 |

| Jen, You're right about the water. So far in this woe, I've found that water and exercise really key continued weight loss. For instance, I didn't get enough water in this weekend, and I'm up a couple pounds! keep it up! 202/176.5/170 |

| I am convinced it is the water! When I dont drink enough, I dont lose...when I drink a gallon a day I lose 2-3 lbs! So why are we so resistant about drinking it when we know what we get when we do?? I have not lost in 2 weeks and I have only drank 64-80 oz a day and I know thats the cause of it! ![]() To get to the rainbow you must first pass through the rain! |

| Are you sure about the water? Can we (I) drink anything instead of water. How about the fruit20, is that the same? Thanks Tonya |

| Mommy, No.......the body treats flavored water as a food and has to process it. Beverages other than water should be regarded as treats. Plain water helps to flush the burned fats out of our bodies. Burned fats eventually get converted to water and have to be rinsed out. I have a hard time getting in all the water I need to on days that I work. I am in a call center and they REALLY frown upon frequent bathroom visits. I try to make it up at home. | I think you'll find as time goes by that you wantwater more than any other drink. After a few months of upping my water intake I now find that I need water constantly. If I go out to eat I will nearly always order iced tea to drink, but end up drinking all of the water I can hold. Your body becomes used to having all that hydration and will eventually start asking for it. Vicky >^..^< |

I'm not saying that certain additives couldn't stall weight loss (salt, sugars, etc.), but basically your body uses the fluid part as water.
quote:
But There's Water Everywhere You don't have to drink that much, however. Your body manufactures one glass of water each day from the carbohydrates you eat, by breaking them down and putting some of their hydrogen and oxygen back together as H2O. In addition, most foods contain a lot of water. Coffee and tea are more than 99-percent water;* milk and soft drinks, about 90-percent. Most fruits and vegetables are 90-percent wateržthat's why they shrivel so much when dried, and why iceberg lettuce actually contains a higher proportion of water than orange juice does. | I know for me I can drink a ton of fluids, coffee, diet drinks and I will swell, but if I drink a gallon of water, no fluid retention at all and I usually lose more wt! To get to the rainbow you must first pass through the rain! |

| It's getting increasingly hard for me to get my water in unless I suck on sunflower seeds or something salty. Going to try extra hard next week to fix that. Mikeyrat Started Atkins 5/30/2003 337/283.5/237 - 6'2" 43 YO Wife: 224/194/165 - 5'11" |
