Just thought I'd mention that Vermont Country Store (catalog and online at www.vermontcountrystore.com ) is now carrying 3 different kinds of nut butters. Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with this store in any way (other than long-time satisfied customer) and I have not tried any of these yet.

They are cashew butter, almond butter, and soy nut butter. All 3 say they contain only the nut and the oil to process (and in the case of the soy nut, it's soy oil).

Just thought it might be helpful for folks to know. I intend to try the almond butter at some point and will post a review.

Thanks for the info. I need to be looking for the almond butter in our local stores. Due to being in a small town the website might be a better option!

Hi Kelly--Yes, that's my problem, too; small town, very rural location. I sometimes feel envious about what some of the people here say they find in their local stores (I even printed out a map to find a Trader Joe's next time I'm traveling!) Even the WalMart in our nearest town (an hour's drive) doesn't have many of the things other folks here say they find at WalMart. So I depend a lot on online shopping. Vermont Country Store does not have the cheapest prices I've ever seen, but it does have some fairly unique products, and their service is excellent.

You can even make your own nut butters. throw the nuts in a processor or put them through a grinder. Add some oil if you like and let the machine do the work. You can make nut flours the same way (without added oil) - just don't process as long.
