So I'm thinking I want to add back beans of some sort in a week or two, and I'm looking for suggestions on how to do so without overdoing it.

I've never been much of a bean-eater other than Mexican refried beans - which I love. I know I can't have them in the quantity I used to eat them, but would a tablespoon or two in a day be acceptable?

I'm thinking of making and freezing some breakfast tacos (eggs, bacon, cheese, LC Tortillas) for a quick breakfast - and a spoonful of refried beans would go nicely in them....

Any other ideas on how to add a few carbs worth of beans?

Well, Taco Bell Pintos & Cheese is about 10 net carbs per serving, which I think is approx. 1/2 cup, so just a tablespoon or two shouldn't be that bad, depending on how far into OWL you are.

See if you can find the canned black SOYbeans - they are pretty good! I think the brand is Eden Farms. I've gotten them at Whole Foods.

When I want refrieds, I just mash these and fry them up in some bacon grease.

They're very low in carbs, I think it's 1 carb per half cup after you subtract the fiber.

Charski is right, the Eden black soy beans are great.
It was Marcie who first suggested them, and we owe her big.
I use them in chili, to make refried beans (like Char) for breakfast tacos, and in homemade salsa. Marcie has great recipes for them; you can find them here:

I've made her bean soup, and it is awesome!

Hi Dart!

I use Old El Paso traditional refried beans on occation. They are high in carbs though. I think it's 11 g per half cup after the fiber is subtracted, but I always have to check the label. Also, as a note, beware that some refried beans have sugar and corn syrup added so you'll want to check the label before you buy. You're breakfast tacos sound wonderful!!
