| I started rung on 18 Feb, I added celery the first week. I thought I ad lost about 1 pound but the scale bumped back up. I was eating 3 ounces of celery with 1 oz of cream cheese on it in addition to my induction veggies of 1 cup of green beans and 2 cups of mixed salad greens with vinegar and oil dressing. I though I'll just go on for the second week and added broccoli. 1 cup is 8 grams carb 4 grams fiber. Weight and body are not going down. What should I do? Stay at induction levels? Will I never be able to go up the rungs? If I can't even add 5 grams of veggies how can I go up the rungs? Talk about discouraging! ![]()

| sorry to hear you're feeling frustrated, deb! no fun at all. i do know it's very common to have that third or fourth week post induction "pause," as i like to refer to it. you might try hanging out at each step an extra week and see if that helps, if you want? i do know that having the slowdown after induction is very, very common and not a cause for undue concern, but i also know it's WAY easier to say that than to feel it when it's you. how are your other indicators besides the scale going? you feel good? your clothes fitting differently? have you tried taking measurements to see if those inches are moving? for me, the inches and pounds NEVER go at the same time, so it's very helpful to have different ways to measure success because, as we well know, that scale can be the biggest liar there is! ![]() i assume you're getting your water in there and getting a little movement into the mix as well? you're clearly well-informed on your plan, so i have no doubt you're on track in that regard. can't offer you much more than some friendly vibes at this point, but i'm sending them your way nonetheless! ![]() |

| Thanks goddess. Yes I am drinking water. I have 2 23oz. bottles at work and drink 3 full ones every day then another 20 oz. at home in the evening. I feel great! Acid indigestion is all but gone. One of the reasons I truly love this woe. My clothes are no looser than they were at the end of January. So no inches lost since then. I have a pair of corduroy jeans that I want to wear before spring gets here, they are still a little to tight to wear for any length of time. I am trying to keep protein lower than 100 grams per day so I don't get too much glucose from that. I am getting some exercise. DH and I walk 3 times a week for 15 to 20 minutes. Probably need to increase that.

| howdy, I perused your fit day for a few days and saw a few things that might be indicators of stalls in some people... 1. the cheese -- both cream cheese and regular cheddar have lots of salt and unless you are drinking extra water to compensate, you might be holding onto water 2. same goes with the ham... usually more salt that most people need to eat 3. the mediterain vineg... check on this also, if it has feta cheese in it, again the salt... other than that, not sure what is going on with you.... I know how hard and frustrating it can be, like Goddess said, what about other indicators.... take care carolyn

| Deb, Dixie is soooooo right on the post induction stall! It's the pits! But, if you wouldn't mind, give us a sample menu of exactly what you are eating. Sometimes there is to much, or not enough of something in your daily intake. Hang in there, kiddo! hth s

| another thing... I just looked at your re-start weights in 2005 and 2006; you are close to that now. That area of 152-156 could be a *set point* for you, meaning your body is very happy to be at that weight(even though your brain is telling you to lose more/or you WANT to lose more). Sometimes it can take a month or more to break through the set point. I'm having a bit of a time with it myself. ack! It is infuriating, but keep on keeping on....the only time the cheating scales win is if you totally give up! again, just a thought on the stall/set point theory. addendum: ahhh...OK...I saw your fitday link; I looked at a few days. Maybe a little heavy on the fat and looks like lots of salty foods a few days in a row. I try to keep my fat and pro pretty much in line with each other; some folks disagree, but for me(middle aged female/hormonal issues, yatta, yatt, yatta) fat DOES matter, as does daily total calories. You might check out this site and see what your calorie intake should be...just as a guide. hth s s

| Thanks everyone. Shelley, I checked out the site re: calories and it said I could have 1696.5. I know I would gain weight on that. As a general rule I try to keep calories under 1350 and usually more like 1250 per day. I am under the recommendation of 1696.5 cal. The Ayhan's Mediterranean Vinaigrette is 0 carb . Quote:
Should I stay on rung 1 for a couple of more weeks with no ham, or continue to rung 2 or go back to induction?

| Deb, When I moved on to OWL, I found it better for me to stay on a rung for 2 or 3 weeks. That gave me time to integrate the increased carb allowance into my menu planning. In addition, whenever I reached a "set point", I invariably stalled for a while. However, since I knew from reading the book and other comments that this was to be expected, I just stayed with the program and eventually broke through. While I expected stalls and was disappointed each time I did not lose some weight when I realized that this was the WOE I was going to follow, it did make staying the course easier since I understood that this was normal. Good luck.
