| Hi I have been missing in action for a little while. My work schedule picked up. Well I am taking off inches like crazy, am officially out of my 16's(HOORAY)!!!!! am able to wear a few of my 12's. So it is coming. Haven't dropped that many pounds yet though, hopefully they will come before summer. I have resumed my speed walking so that should help. What frustrates me is that 18 months ago I was down to where I should be and I screwed it up and have to do this all over again. Well I hope I learned a lesson. Everyone have a great weekend, Judy

| You know so far I haven't felt the urge to eat something off my plan. I know I am not out of the woods yet however, today DH and I walked away from a Lasagne lunch at church. I know the temptation would have been too strong for both of us. Not only the Lasagne but the desert and bread. We are having low carb version at home anyway. So far we are hanging in there, one day at a time. Judy

| Judy - that is fantastic to hear that you just aren't depriving yourself from the foods you love but making healthier versions! You and your DH are doing everything right. ![]() |

| WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! You are doing SO AWESOME!!!! Let me just encourage you with one thing: Don't forget the "Oranges & Marshmallows" analogy. This will help you not to lend too much credence to the scale... When you are eating adequate protein (as LC pretty much forces you to do), your body builds & maintains muscle (which is great because it speeds up metabolism!). But muscle weighs a LOT more than fat. Think of muscle in terms of oranges. As you lose fat (think of marshmallows) and add muscle (oranges), you may not see a big difference in the scale, but if you are losing you WILL see it on the measuring tape! Obviously, you are doing this way of eating PERFECTLY! ![]() I applaud you & I am cheering you on to the next notch on your measuring tape.

| Thank you so much for the encouragement. Sometimes I think I get too bogged down on what the scale says. That is not a good predictor of how this is working. I have managed to find a substitute for alot of carby stuff. Today when I went to the store after work I was pining away for the taste of a Reeses Peanut Butter cup, but didn't give in. I guess I had a moment where I thought I missed the taste of something I used to enjoy. After I left the store though I didn't miss it anymore, Go figure. It seems that land mines get ya if you don't watch out.(HA HA) Have a great evening. Judy

![]() another thing i've found is that after a while, the stuff i used to LOVE, on the rare occassion i tried it again, simply didn't taste the same anymore. in some cases, it was even pretty yucky. this made me think of it because Reeses is one specifically that I tried after LCing for a few weeks, and it didn't even remotely similar to how i'd remembered it! i was shocked...but after that, it became much easier to pass up. LC really does change your tastes... |

| I made a L C cake last night, I used Carb Quick for the flour substitute. It turned out quite good. My DH was pining away for dessert, so I used a regular recipe only using heavy cream for the milk and splenda and a little Crystal Light for the sweetener. I used cream cheese and splenda and vanilla for the frosting. He said it was better then regular cake. I think he just doesn't remember what real cake tastes like. It is getting easier as time passes to make substitutes for the higher carb stuff. For me that is what is keeping me going, when I get the yen for something carby there is usually a low carb substitute that gives you the taste and texture I am looking for and I don't miss the starch. I ran into a friend of mine the other day who said she had to give up because she was tired of eating all those eggs and hamburgers. Obviously she never read a book on the subject, because I don't know one author that says you can only eat protein. She told me I wasn't really following a low carb diet after that I just gave up, how can you reason with a Moron? I probably shouldn't call her names but I get tired of fighting prejudice. Well I have rambled enough hope everyone is having a good day. Judy

those are the "low-carbers" that get their info from friends, coworkers, and 30-second news spots that show steak, bacon, and eggs... no veggies at all! eek!and it's great your finding your own low carb subs for the stuff you used to eat. that will go a long way towards helping you make this a lifestyle (and therefore permanent) change. good for you! have a good day yourself... ![]() |

| Yes I think they must get their info from the media or misguided friends. I have seen entire threads on other websites that promote such unhealthy habits. I guess if it works for them more power to them, but I have a good friend that elevated his cholesterol an alarming rate doing that sort of thing. I had a physical a few weeks ago and my numbers were very good, of course I take alot of supplements too including Lecithin that is suppose to keep your levels normal. Something is working for me anyway. When people approach me on it which isn't too often because I don't discuss my eating with the vast majority of people, I advise them to read a couple two or three books and follow the plan right for them. That is really the only way to do this sensibly. Judy
