PQ - honestly?? You have been doing so great, you're so motivated - can you avoid the ham or bring something of your choosing?? I'm no LC expert, but I LOOOOOOOVE to cook and my personal fav for Ham is Juilia Childs recipe. Instead of a glaze, she bastes her ham in low/no salt chicken broth that's been spiked with savory herbs (I'm at work now, but can post the recipe later if you'd like) Basically, you risnse/scrub your ham, bake it on a rack slowing and baste. I use thyme and rosemary in the broth, onion slices in the bottom of the pan. When done, remove the ham and keep warm by tenting with foil. Strain the pan drippings and deglaze the pan with vermouth or other dry wine or vodka (just a bit, so don't fret) - add back the pan dripping and (ya sitting down?????) ADD IN CREAM!!! O.M.GAAAAWD - hon you are talking the best cream gravy ever and over that savory ham??? what's GLAZE??? Isn't that the look my husband gives me when I ask for cash????

See if you can bring something else, if Mom fusses at you tell her you wanted to try something different, your last blood test was wonky, you gave up glaze for Lent . . . - honestly, I think if you just pull Mom aside and tell her you're avoiding sugar but wouldn't miss a visit with her, it'll be ok!

maybe you could soak up most of the glaze with some bread you're also not going to eat...

Either ask her to remove a portion of ham for you before she glazes it, or scrape off as much of the glaze as you can, then blot with a paper towel.
Don't make a big production out of it and I bet she won't notice...a LC-er has gotta do, what a LC-er has gotta do...and that includes avoiding glaze and chocolate bunnies!!! LOL!

Happy Easter!

PQ, since dinner is at your house, you also could just get a slice of ham at the market and have it ready to put on your plate when dinner was ready.

I agree with Henry - your house, your rules!

I'm confused.
Why does the dinner being at your house change anything?

I'm sorry if I'm being obtuse, but wouldn't you have MORE control over what is served if the dinner is at your house?

I like Henry's suggestion. I highly doubt anyone would even notice...

Thats a good idea, our dinner is at our daughters house, so it might be my planned cheat meal. I haven't had one yet since I started back on this. But I can understand why you would be concerned. Dana Carpender says only eat the foods you really enjoy if it is carby.c Otherwise slice yourself some ham before it is glazed and make mashed turnips or cauliflower. The main thing is to enjoy being with family tomorrow. Judy

So a little f/u! My fiance cut off a good portion (he obviously thought that I was hungry!) for me and my mokm glazed the rest. Problem solved.

One cheat free holiday past me! Now we have my brother's b-day (he will be 8)! As long as I have my meat, cheese and salad...I can make it. Maybe I will offer to bring something LC.
