| Hey Cin, I haven't been on the boards lately, been so busy. I make my choc. soy shakes with Soy Slender chocolate soy milk (Westsoy) and it is sweetened with splenda. I use 8 oz. of it. Then I add 2 TBS. unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/8 tsp. of stevia and 1/4 cup of cream or 1/2-N-1/2. I also will add a 1/2 tsp. or so of Xanthan gum to thicken it (health food store) I have one of those stick blenders, so I blend everything up with that. The soy milk is 1 ecc carb, the cocoa is 2 carbs, the cream is 2 carbs and I don't count the stevia. So that's a total of 5 carbs. I have had a heck of a time finding plain unsweetened soy milk if I can't find the chocolate Soy Slender. If you find a store that carries Westsoy brand soy milks, ask if they can get the chocolate Soy Slender for you. It is really good, even by itself. When I do find it (Jewel) I buy 4 of them at a time. I figure I am keeping the sales up on it, so they won't discontinue it. I can't find it anywhere else. HTH and ENJOY!!!! (You could even throw everything in a regular blender and add ice to make it really thick and COLD!!!!) Barb Atkins-3/14/03 174/149.4/135 "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing." |
