Judy-

Why don't you suggest the South Beach diet to her? Pretty much a lowfat version of Atkins. If she has fat-in-food issues, that might be the best way for her to go.

I too have a coworker who was going to do atkins. Several years ago she lost quite a bit of weight on it then after a couple of years she gained it all back. She didn't make it a lifestyle change. She did okay the first week, then cheated at a ballgame and never got started again. We just don't talk about it at all. I know she is watching me when I heat up my LC lunch etc. at work. She knows she can LC, as she did it before, but it's up to her.. not me and no matter how much I want to see her be healthier again there is nothing I can do for her.

Susan

LC and feeling better every day!

Judy - tough position to be in since you care about this person - but as everyone here has already said, it's all up to her. You can lead by example.

Redsoxfan!! Yippee, someone to talk SOX with. Do you think they can make wildcard? Where are you located?

I am going to agree with everyone, you can't change anyone that doesn't want to make the change themselves. I know, we all tried many types of diets, some worked, some didn't, but the difference I found this time is that I have made a committment to a different way of eating, and find that I try not to listen to what someone has to say about what I am eating, and continue losing weight. You can't make a change until you are ready, everyone of us has been there, have tried this or that, and didn't lose or only lost a little then gave up. Not giving up is the key, and this time I am not giving up, she will come to the same point at some time in her life, and if you are a good example, maybe she will ask you for help... then she will be ready, other than that, just continue to be a good example. We can change peoples ideas, attitudes best by example....not by preaching, or trying to change their minds.

Jen -

YEA! Someone else out there who loves the Redsox!!! I'm just outside of Boston btw. Anyhow, I totally think they'll make the wildcard! Though they're playing Baltimore tonight and we all know how easily they seem to lose those games!

Okay, I'll stop posting off topic stuff now I promise!
