I'm having a problem with the munchies. TOM is around the corner. I'm not even hungry, but I just need to munch. At least I'm not craving chocolate, or something sweet.(knock on wood) Does this sound a bit strange? Shay 205/196.5/150 Atkins since 8/29/03 ~Too blessed to be stressed~

No, it doesn't sound strange at all! Especially around TOM. When I get munchies, I keep changing what I eat, to avoid over doing it with legal treats. I'll eat an ounce of nuts; but if I want more, I'll switch to a new food. Maybe I'll have some veggies and dip instead. If I still want to eat after that, I'll have a hard boiled egg. Or, celery and PB, or a cheese stick. Otherwise, I could fall into one of those things where I just keep nibbling away until the whole thing is gone. Switching foods frequently tends to short circuit that behavior for me. ~~~Teelbee 174 (Mar. 2002, highest weight), 164 (Jan. 2003, begin LC) 164/135/137-134 remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic

I am not a sweet person anyways but when I do want sweets, it is cheesecake so I am pretty lucky that I can have it with this WOE (although I haven't yet) If you just need the munching, eat celery or salad or something. Can you get pork rinds? I can't here but I am a salt person and would LOVE to be able to munch on those. Some will tell you to take a walk or tidy up the house but I am always thinking so I will keep thinking of the need to munch if I want to munch. I hope you can find something good! ![]() ~Steph

Pork rinds are a good suggestion. I like to pile some on a plate and sprinkle shredded cheese on them and nuke them till the cheese melts. Makes good finger food. Add some other legal stuff and make "nachoes" Raw veggies are always good. Last night I made Strawberry, Jello-y, Cheesecake-y stuff. I blended 1 pkt of unflav. gelatin with 1 cup hot water with 1 brick of cream cheese and added fresh strawberries. It's a "munchie", desserty kind of thing to fall back on for myself. The trick is to not eat the WHOLE thing. Barb Atkins-3/14/03 174/149.4/135 "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing."

| I too, always get the munchies around TOM. what has helped me is to distract myself with a work-out or house work - I listen to a book at the same time - that way I don't think about eating, since I'm concentrating on the story. My husband and I are way into listening to books. You can rent them at the library or buy books on-line that you can download. Check out www.audible.com if you like. Never give up! Never surrender!
