Default Amusing tale believing what sales people say!

This is the last time...I hope...that I believe what a sales person tells me! There is a little place close to my work that sells jewelry and beads and things....and homemade fudge. Well the sales person told me the sugar free fudge was made with splenda. Oh, cool I think to myself, I think I will indulge in a piece of fudge. Oh my! It wasn't made with splenda. I had to stay very close to a restroom for almost 8 hours and the pain in my belly was awful! Moral of story....you are safer to stay away from so called sugar free candy.

Well, it might have been made with Splenda, but also some sort of sugar alcohol that gave you that awful reaction. Bet it was maltitol, it's the absolute worst! Gives me the shivers to just think about what it does to the digestive tract!

How awful for you. But-how was the fudge? I mean before it started making itself known.

The fudge was very good. But definitely not worth it.

I've never had "malitol tummy" and after reading these posts you can rest assured that I'm going to do everything in my power to never ever ever have one. Amen.

You're a wise woman, Kat. I will sometimes eat stuff with sugar alcohols and can get away with a little without issue, but if I see Malitol even listed anywhere on the ingredients, I put the package down like it's gonna burn my fingers and leave the vicinity as quickly as possible....
