Okay, I am going to complain and gripe here. I am two months into this WOE and I have been gaining and losing the same three pounds since the first of the month. I AM FRUSTRATED!! I know it's a slow process, but how does one just accept that it is going to be slow and that stalls are inevitable?

I am not sure if 1) I am NOT eating enough; 2) I am not eating enough veggies; 3) I am eating too much fat, cheese, nuts; 4) I am eating too many processed foods; or my biggest fear, 5) all of the above.

I do feel better and I have lost a bunch of inches, but I am ready for the next round of pounds to go away, darn-it!!!

Just needed to rant.

What I would do if I were you.

1. Stop weighing yourself. A watched pot and all that...

2. Make sure you're in ketosis.

3. Don't worry about anything else in the world. None of those other things you mentioned are that relevant. When your body is ready to start losing again, if you're in ketosis, you'll be less hungry, so you'll eat fewer total calories and you'll lose weight.

Micro-managing things doesn't always help. It often makes matters worse. You're in this for the long haul.

That having been said, green veggies are always a good idea. Don't go nuts about it though.

Thanks, Doc. I was hoping for a response from you...I like your attitude. Ketosis: I very seldom show positive probably because I drink so darned much water. And I admit, my hunger seems to have returned and my belly feels like I am not eating enough, but I seem to be eating A LOT. UGH.

Me again. Been thinking about the "purist" type of eating and am wondering if these types of foods are truly okay during OWL...or if I should taper down:

Flax cereal (homemade)
Muffins (homemade)
Pizza quiche
Pumpkin granola

These are all staples these days and am just wondering if I should cut them down...or <egads!> cut them out!

Kellie,

Watch that pumpkin granola like a hawk! Although it's packed with nutrition, it's also packed with calories...like 240 per 1/3 cup if I remember correctly. I don't know about you, but I can seldom limit myself to 1/3 cup of that stuff....it's so d@mn good!!!! The flax cereal is pretty much going to go right thru you, so I wouldn't worry about that. The muffins and pizza quiche should be ok, too. I don't know which muffin recipe you use, but if you're counting all your carbs and they fit in, you should be fine.

I was in the same boat you're in for about 6 weeks, I was getting very frustrated. I went totally purist for 2 weeks and had a whoosh of 3#! Now I'm just coming off TOM, so things have slowed down this week, but it gave me hope, if you know what I mean!

Do you exercise? That's something that is pretty sporatic for me. I have 2 kids who wear me out, but I know I have to do the treadmill 4x/week, or I won't post a loss. Just a thought!

(((((HUGS))))) just have patience, this is a WOL and not a race....I just keep telling myself this over, and over, and over.

Cheers!

Oh, one more thing....you were wondering if it was too much cheese/fat. Well, I eat about 5 oz of cheese/day and I've also found that if my fat intake isn't up, too, I don't lose. YMMV on this, but it's what I noticed for myself.

The biggest trap I fall into is, trying to Atkins and starting to incorporate smaller portions or cutting my fat intake way down. You can't do both and my scale has proven that to me. Experiment around, it can't hurt!! Give your experiment about 2 weeks without weighing yourself and see what happens!

Cheers!

*sigh*

If I were losing the same three pounds over and over, I would do as you suggest and try the "purest" approach. As for me, I cannot eat anything but foods from their natural states if I want to lose weight. That includes not eating any "low carb" products whatsoever. Here's a sampling of a "purest" menu:

Breakfast
as much coffee as you care to drink, with 2 packets of Sweet-n-Low and 1 tablespoon of heavy cream per 16-ounce mug
3 eggs scrambled with 1 ounces of shredded colby cheese

Lunch
2 grilled hamburger patties (the reason I say grilled is because I take leftovers from the night before to work the next day)
OR
2 grilled chicken breasts
OR
2 grilled pork chops
OR
1 very large grilled steak
1 can of green beans with butter (the reason I say canned is because I eat at my desk at lunch at work)
AND/OR
1 can of spinach with butter
AND/OR
1 large salad comprising iceberg lettuce, green pepper strips, hard boiled egg, radishes, cucumbers, topped with Ranch dressing and 1 ounce of shredded cheddar cheese
washed down with lots of water

Dinner
Repeat of lunch....exactly

Snack
1 whole bag of radishes
OR
several ribs (not stalks) of celery
dipped in Rach dressing
OR
a handful of walnuts

That's what I'd eat. In fact, that's what I ate daily and I lost 15 pounds in August.

My two cents...

Chippy, I have to echo what April and some of the others have said. Lose the granola, cereal, nuts, pizza quiche and eat food in it's purest form.

Victors are really just temporary quitters who then regroup with a vengeance.

Well, I am nowhere near giving up, so back to the forms of food closest to Induction. Yes, the granola does me in -- it's just too good! Thank you EVERYONE for your advice. I can give my own, but taking my own...well, I can't do it!
