Both my dh and I started Atkins on July 5th. It has been very successful for both of us...he has lost more weight, but what else is new. His blood
pressure meds have been cut in half, probably more cuts on the way. My blood work is outstanding, in three months I went from 246 to 190 total with all the stats looking great. So, now we are faced with a 12 day tour of Ireland (meals included and every upscale places). Up until this point we have had pretty much total control of our intake. Do you have any advice for us?

Oh, that's a problem. You should talk to the travel agent and see what you can work out with them.

Ireland - sounds like a great tour! I hope for little rain for you.

I'm with Doc - talk to the travel agency if arrangements can be made.
Wow, this is probably going to be a pretty tempting tour - all those different foods to try. But I bet there are options for you there, too. If I'd go back to my home country (Germany) I would have to do quite some juggling with the foods there. It's a way high carb country.

Good luck to you, and have fun!

Never give up! Never surrender!

Try to make sure you get lots of exercise, if you cannot keep truly legal. Enjoy your trip. I would love to go to Ireland .

I am impressed by your weight loss. 56 pounds in 3 months is fantastic, and your DH has loss more-wow.

Enjoy yourself and try your best, but if for some reason you cannot eat exactly on plan, do not feel guilty and waste your vacation time. You can feel guilty when you get back .

Let us know how it went.

We just got back from a month in Europe: Eastern Europe (Romania, Turkey, Serbia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia; also, Austria.

I ate much of what was offered, though ate salads when I could. I ate a HUGE breakfast when I could and always had eggs and water to drink. We walked our fannies off during the day with touring, so I wasn't too worried about food intake. I drank beer and wine and ate bread and strudel (strudel in moderation!). I even had a few desserts! Enjoy your vacation. You know what NOT to eat. Just be wise and have fun.

This was my first post and I was nervous and did not express myself clearly. It was my cholesterol that went from 246 to 190. I would have liked such a weight loss but this seems to be more of a slow but sure process.
Thank you for your advice.....
