| Although we can't give you medical advise, I would say if you are in your 8th month that your carb count should be up more than what you are probably eating. You need to keep up with your carbs..maybe even post a days menu so some of the veterans around here can help you calculate approx. how many carbs you are getting in. That's my opinion and I'm sure others will chime in soon. Hope this helps! 193(march 2003, lost 10 with exercise and cutting back) Started LCing on Aug. 25,2003 183/175.5/150 |

| You don't really need to eat any carbs to be healthy, although the non-nutritive fiber carbs in vegetables are good for you for a number of reasons. As long as you stay in ketosis, you can safely increase your carbs. There's no advantage to being ULTRA-low. You should feel safe adding in all the green vegetables you want. The fiber is good for you, prevents constipation, and fills your stomach so you won't need to eat as often or as much. The small amount of carbs in these foods is generally of such a low-glycemic nature that they might as well not be counted. If you've been doing this since October, you've been doing it for more than 8 months. More like a year! Unless I misunderstood something. I don't count calories either. I just don't eat any high-carb foods and I'm careful with medium-level carb foods. As long as I'm in ketosis I don't sweat the numbers. *********************** "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. | Dr. I, I think Rudy means he will have been doing Adkins for 8 months on 10/2. I could have misunderstood too. Rudy, has this light headedness just started today? I am not a doctor, nor do I claim to know anythign about medicine, I do know where I live there is a flu/cold like virus going around. If you have been doing this for 8 months and only started feeling light headed you may be coming down with something. If it has been happening foe a wahile, I think you should consult a doctor. Another thought. Are you hungry? When I do not eat regularly I tend to feel light headed. I want to end this by repeating what I said earlier, if you are concerned you should see a doctor. Good Luck! | Hey, Rudy! Nice to see you check in again, but sorry it's because you're not feeling up to par today. If it took you about an hour to get over your lightheadedness after the orange juice, it does not sound much like a hypoglycemic episode. I say that because, generally something like orange juice will up your blood sugar much faster than that. If it was just one episode on one day, I suspect it may have nothing to do with this way of eating. You may just be coming down with something. If, however, you're having periods of lightheadedness, you should consult a doctor, because this is not normal. One thing I would really recommend is that you start taking a decent multivitamin. No particular brand, just something with a nice broad spectrum of vitamins and minerals (and which has NO iron - you don't need it and it builds up over time.) This is a good way to "keep your bases covered." BTW, your progress is wonderful. You're averaging about a pound a week and that is in the optimal range for putting no stress on your system and allowing your skin to do its best to "shrink" along with you. Please keep us posted!
