You don't really need to take them but they can't hurt. You can get multivitamins cheaply at just about any drug store, especially if you pick generic house brands, like I tend to do.

Yaz, I agree with Dr. I. Any good multi vitamin should do you. I add calcium, vit. E and potassimum to mine. I buy one-a-day multi, but buy the others in generic form.

I'm not 100% positive... but i'm think i've heard that the Atkins Basic #3 is more for induction and OWL.

I take them. I just figure the man studied this for decades and knew his stuff. It may be a lil more costly than what i could pick up at say Wal-Mart, but i know i'm getting what he recommends.

Don't forget about the EFA's
Essential Fatty Acids are also important.

(I also shop at www.vitaglo.com - way cheaper than from the Atkins site.)

I take the MEGA w/o iron from GNC. Since it's Gold card days, you can get an additional 20% off the first week of the month. I got like 2 for 8$ before the discount.

Dr. Atkins DID recommend Basic #3 for all phases, including maintenance.

However, I compared ingredients, and bought Wal Mart multi vitamins for much less.
