| I didn't know Healthy Choice started making a low carb bread, but Walmart also sells Natural Ovens Lo-Carb 1, which is 3 carbs per slice. Very nummy. (296/226.5/135) 04/01/03 The Downward Spiral Begins [This message was edited by shrinkydink on 09-27-03 at 09:41 AM.] |

| I found some great low-carb buns called O'Solo - they come in all kinds of varieties with ECC of 3-3.3 for the whole bun , depending on what kind you choose. I think they have a website if you can't find them in the store. |

| Jello, the bread you're referring to is called "Healthy Life." It comes in wheat, white, sugar-free, and Italian. Runs around $2.26 per loaf at Walmart. In my region it's produced by Lewis Bakery. One slice of wheat has 8g carbs, 3g fiber, 1g sugars, 2g protein. HTH Susan LCE Member since 01/02 341/283.5/185 |

| I really enjoy the "Healthy Life" breads. I can find them in almost all of the grocery stores by me now, even our lil ethnic grocery. I did find some of those 0-So-Low buns and thought is was pretty good. A tad chewy, and flaxy (lots of flax seeds in there) so if you've ever had a flax muffin, you wont be surprised by the taste or chewy-ness. But it was great to have a sandwich again. | Terese, that reminded me that Healthy Life also makes hamburger and hotdog buns. Don't have the counts at hand, but they taste great. I don't make a habit of eating bread or buns, but when I have to have it, Healthy Life is what I use. | I Would love to try some lo-carb bread. It seems that whenever I'm at trader joe's they are always sold out. maybe that's a sign....... Shay 205/192.5/150 Atkins since 8/29/03 ~Too blessed to be stressed~ |

| I didn't like the Trader Joe's low-carb bread. A few months ago I bought some loaves, two of them at one time, worried that it might not be back. I ate three slices. One with bread and butter, two as french toast. It was all so awful no matter what I did that I just threw the loaves away. The stuff looked and smelled just like bread but it tasted like crumpled up paper. *********************** "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. | I wish I lived in an area where Super Walli sells those breads. Neither "Healthy Life" nor "Natural Ovens" are sold in Utah. So far I haven't found a bread that's under $4-5 a loaf. Anybody from the Salt Lake City, UT area know a good, cheaper option for bread? There is no Trader Joe's here. Or maybe somebody has a good recipe for bread to make? Never give up! Never surrender! But, I believe the whole wheat is best. Pick-n-Save also carries it. Amy |

| Arnold Bakers now sell a low carb bread bread simply called "lower carbs" nationally. Available at my local Shoprite. |

| I bought the Arnold wheat "lower carb" bread at Price Chopper. I haven't tried it yet; it's in the freezer. 9 net carbs per slice, but they are huge. My local HFS just started carrying Todd's rolls and bagels. I bought the rolls, and tried one as a burger bun. Big, tasty, 4 carbs each. Heaven. I eat lc breads very seldom, but every once in a while I'll treat myself to french toast or a sandwich. A nice change. Cooking is at once child's play and adult joy. | Aren't those Todds rolls and bagels the BEST!!! I have been using the rolls for sandwich rolls for awhile now--they do have a soyish taste, but with enough mustard and salami, who cares!! They are dense, have tasty seeds and nuts, and make a great base!! ouis |
