| I'm really pleased to be moving into August, because that means I've been low-carbing again for a whole month. Yay! It's been tough at times, but the whole thing has been made much easier by you folks, so thanks. ::::cue diva music:::: I'm here.

| I love it when we can mark a milestone! Some may think them small but each one is huge and cause for celebration. As divas we love to celebrate, don't we? It looks like a beautiful weekend here in Indianapolis! I am ready to start my day. I will be heading to the grocery store this morning and then crafting in my lovely new craft room this afternoon. Last night we went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant. I made the choice to have some tortilla chips with dip and a taco salad (not in a edible bowl). I stayed in control and had my chips and nothing else for the rest of the night. Blessings to all and have a wonderful weekend! ~gb

| hi I am on week two of induction. Am really looking forward to getting into the meat of this WOE. Beautiful day in Sunny Northern California, (if you don't mind a little smoke). Ready to go grocery shopping. I won't shop for me yet, but I have a birthday coming up in a couple of months and plan on buying a new outfit. This group is great Debbi |

| Good mindset, Debbie! Once you get through induction, you'll be ready to focus on making LCE a way of life. And I'm with you, Glory--every little milestone along the way is worth celebrating. I think we stay encouraged and focused when we remember to notice the little things. I was down a 1/2 pound this morning--not enough to change my stats, but I have hopes of doing so before the end of the week.

to the LC Divas Debi! You are going to love it here! Karen - good to see you, as always!!! My, my, I had another milestone this weekend. LC Dudes, warning that is about "girly" things! My bras were getting lose on me. I decided to go from D to C and guess what?! They fit perfectly!!! My dh even said they fit better. Ahhh another small LC victory. The scale may be remaining steady but the body is definitely changing. One of my good friends told me I am going to waste away to nothing...I have a long way to go to waste away but it does feel good when people notice. So today ~ I will continue this life choice and celebrate with my fellow divas another beautiful, blessed day!!! Blessings to all! ~gb

| Hi Well I am starting August off right, I actually went to my water aerobic class today. We have it 3 times a week and I play golf on Thurs. But the rest of the time I spend sitting in a chair, playing cards (bridge, cribbage, pinochle, etc), reading, or typing here. I hope the 3 workouts I get will carry me thru because I cant give up cards. I love being retired. At 63, I have about 40 lbs to loose. I am really loving this site. Debbi |

| Well, yesterday was my weekly "loose" day. It's not a cheat day--I don't cheat or deviate from low carb eating altogether--it's just a day when I allow myself a higher carb allowance so I will eat a little fruit, maybe a bit of potatoes, stuff like that. I find that it doesn't affect my weight loss, and lets me have a bit more freedom on a busy day out of the house. I just don't let it happen more than once a week! Glory, I cannot wait to start getting into smaller sizes. I don't have much in the bra department to begin with--even when nursing a baby I never went higher than a C. I'm a typical pear, and all my weight settles in my hips and backside. Not pretty. Since I've put on a good chunk of weight just in the past year (30 pounds), I have a lot of things in my closet that I hope to be able to wear again soon...

| Today is a terrific Tuesday! I got on the scale and was totally blessed with a loss. This is just how I lose...I will remain steady for a week or two and then "woosh!" I am down a pound or more. I hit the official 20 lbs (or 4 bags of flour) GONE!! I changed my weight tracker and I am almost halfway to goal!!! Karen - I gain and lose head to toe. There isn't one part of my body where the weight settles. That is good and bad. When I have been "heavy" or fluffy as I like to say, I never look my weight. People can't believe that I weighed close to 200 lbs. It is also easier to cover up. I hope everyone has a wonderful low carb day! Blessings! ~gb

| I have my first big challange coming up this weekend. I am spending it with my DIL and Granddaughters. We will be doing a lot of walking, (shopping my oldest GD is 12) My DIL is an avid WW. We might have a conflict on whats for dinner. I plan on taking alot of my own food, but there may be some parts I can't control. Wish me luck. Debbi |

| I had a great day yesterday, and I'm really proud of myself. Dh wanted me to have lunch with him in town. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken on it--I wasn't actually all that hungry after a OMM breakfast, but I was content and satisfied while he was munching on fries. Then some friend sent a text message that they were bored, and offered to come over this evening and order pizza. We agreed, but I immediately made mental plans to grill a chicken breast for myself instead--which I did--while everyone ate pizza around me. I haven't done anything like that for a long, long time, but what really felt good to me was that I did it very matter-of-factly, no agonizing, no "wish I could have pizza but I can't" feelings. I just ate what was right for me. I remembered, too, what put me on the low-carb trail in the first place. November 2002, a friend started on Atkins, and I thought she was crazy to start a no-sugar diet going into the holidays like that. She told me that on Atkins, she had no hunger and no cravings, so it wasn't that bad. The words "no hunger, no cravings" sort of stewed in my brain for a week or so, and I begin researching low-carb and Atkins on the internet. And the rest is history---lost 60 pounds, low-carbed through a pregnancy, lost the baby weight and more, and kept it off for two years. And then gained it back because I drifted from light. No more. I'm back and I'm sticking--no matter how long it takes to get my weight off again, I'm not going to revert to the high-carb lifestyle. That way lies...being even heavier and more unhealthy. Debbie--plan carefully what you are going to eat, so you'll be prepared. Just think how proud you'll be for staying on plan during a challenging time, and it will make you stronger for the next one. Gave a great low-carb day, folks.

| Amen Karen! Doesn't feel good when you just make the right choice. Not pining away after whatever food everyone else is eating. I used to love pasta and a few nights ago dh made spaghetti and meatballs. I cooked up my cauliflower and put my sauce on it and it was heavenly. I didn't even think once about missing an old favorite. Debbi - Even though your DIL is doing WW, you still can find some common ground. WW stresses veggies...eat lots of veggies. If there is an item on her menu that is high in carbs just say "no thanks" and have more protein. Don't stress over it...just do it! The less you make of it, the less of an issue it will be. WW does work for some (my mother has been working for them for years) but I know it doesn't work for me. You could bring some fresh veggies that are in season or some yummy cheeses. Enough to share and there will still be good food for you! Have a wonderful lc day and enjoy each blessing it brings! ~gb

| Thanks Oh Karen, about pizza, the next time just eat the toppings, they are all low carb. It's the crust thats not. Serve a large salad and voila. It is alsogreat when the family wants to go out for pizza. I might even suggest it for this weekend. DIL will probably do speghetti, I can always cook veggies and have sauce over them like Glory did. Great idea. It also helps with the veggie count. I have been working very hard in that area. On first rung of OWL and more vggies. Can't wait till I can add a little more variety. Going to a picnic to day with my DH Sirs group. I am having steak and will probably eat just green salad and pass on the other things (beans, coleslaw, potato salad). Have a great day everyone. | I just ran out at lunch to pick up a couple of casual shirts during my lunch today. I am proud to say I got Larges instead of XLs! I also tried on a pair of 14 denim capris and...too big! I got them in a size 12!! I love it when I take a smaller size. Now I am waiting for the scale to get down into the 160s...it is coming I just know it! Tonight...I am planning to eat slightly off plan...we are going to the Indiana State Fair! I love the fair...I will have a big old smoked turkey leg...mmmm gooooood! There are tons of protein options...pork chop on a stick perhaps? Every year I get an elephant ear. I don't think I will this year...the thought doesn't thrill me like it used to. What they do have is the spiral cut potato chips...that might be my one item I will allow myself off-plan. I am allowing only ONE item. There is also a booth that has the best corn on the cob...still a veggie. My carbs will be up but I will be doing tons of walking. I have more fun looking at the exhibits and checking out the animal barns. I can't wait! Blessings to all! !gb
