A few months ago I was asking whether or not my goal was reasonable. I started Atkins at 149 (actually it was 153, but I refused to admit I had hit 150). Anyhow, I wanted to get down to 120 by my sister's wedding which was this past Saturday and my vacation which begins on Wednesday. Well, I didn't make it, but I came close and learned so much along the way. I thought all my problems with my body image would be solved by losing weight. That didn't happen and I learned only I can change that, not my weight. I learned that I can keep promises to myself. I learned that I do have control over food and that I can quit 25 year addictions (soda) no matter how impossible I thought it would be. I learned the incredible importance of friends. I learned the power of knowledge. I learned to celebrate my successes rather than beat myself up constantly over my failures. I learned the incredible fulfillment of helping others. (5 of us at work have lost over 110 lbs. together) since June.

I didn't make my goal, but I am so proud. And I now know that what I have learned is much more important. Having all of you is much more important. And I know that I have the rest of my life to make goal. Thanks to you all for your incredible support and knowledge. You're all so wonderful.

Debra

Congratulations Debra! I am so proud of you! Not only have you broken the barriers and learned about the food you eat, but you have learned so much about yourself. I applaude you!
