Finally got some pics loaded up from our recent trip.

Traveling is my passion (right behind cooking and eating) and I just love sharing my photos. Hopefully, I’ve picked out some interesting shots for you guys to look at. This was our first time to Saigon, it was great! Hong Kong is an old favorite.

SAIGON

We lucked out in Saigon and got a corner room with a fabulous view of the Saigon River.

This next shot is great. A typical Vietnamese family going around town on their motorbike. Notice the mom is wearing a scarf around her face to minimize the inhalation of fumes and such.

One of my favorites, coconut ice cream! And no, it wasn’t low carb. Vacations are always a splurge for me although I do tend to eat less carby when traveling these days than I used to. I only gained 2 pounds on this trip thanks to all the heat, walking, and slightly better food choices.

Shopping for silk and embroidered purses that cost $7 a piece… Need I say more?

HONG KONG

Typical Hong Kong street scene. It’s amazing how many huge neon signs hang over the street there!

I was walking into the metro and turned around to see that DH was lagging behind. That happens a lot as there are so many things to look at (and buy!) So, I stood on the steps to the station entrance with my camera ready knowing he’d be peeking his head around the corner to look for me. And there he is! Dead center in the picture… My Gary.

This was taken on the famous Star Ferry as we were crossing Victoria Harbor. I was trying to take a shot of us not realizing he was also photographing me! In the distance, you can see the high rise buildings of the Central District on Hong Kong Island (think Wall Street)

This is the shot I was taking of the both of us. It came out pretty good!

More shopping! You can find almost everything at the markets in Hong Kong and they are everywhere. This one is called Temple Street Night market and is one of our favorites with everything from juice to jade and flashlights to fake purses.

If you like fresh juice (I know, not very low carb!) then you’d LOVE this lady. She sells all types of juices from her stall in Temple Street Night Market. And she makes it to order so it’s VERY fresh. Watermelon, cantelope, orange, mango, etc. YUMMY!

This is an example of how hi-tech parts of HK are. This shot is on the platform waiting for the subway train, if you look through the glass doors just to the left of middle, you’ll see a picture that isn’t a picture, it’s a plasma screen TV running ads! Get pitched for shampoo and cell phones while you wait for the train. LOL

High Tea is a great pastime in Hong Kong. They do it VERY well. It’s just what you need after wandering around in the humidity for the morning and early afternoon. This time, we had tea at the Inter-Continental. The hotel is on Kowloon so we had a beautiful view of Hong Kong Island while sipping and snacking…

At night, the skyline is amazing. This picture doesn’t do the view justice but it’s a start. We were on the top of Victoria Peak looking out over Hong Kong Island, Victoria Harbor, and Kowloon in the distance (HK is actually a bunch of islands and a portion of land attached to mainland China)

I hope you enjoyed them!

Glad you guys enjoyed them.

Chargeit -

I'm sorry. I just recently changed registrars and the site has been going up and down for the past 48 hours. It was working fine all day and then started flubbing up again.

Unfortunately, we haven't nailed down the problem yet. If you have a chance, peek in here now and then and try again. It looks like Rob was able to get on an hour or so after you tried.

It's spotty! Sorry

Thanks for sharing your pics. I have been to Hong Kong several times and your pictures brought everything back to life.
Saigon pics were fantastic. Have never been there but your pics make me want to book a trip. Thanks again.
