David -

Alot of this really depends on many factors. Age, sex, weight, goal weight, etc. All of these can effect your weight loss so for some it may work and others it may not.

However! I've done this a few times and for me, it did work. My husband and used to do a "series" of egg fasts. We would eat regular low carb for 3-4 days then do eggs for 3-4 days, then back to regular low carb for 2-3 days and back to eggs, etc.

We did this late last year in preparation for a 3 week vacation to Europe. I ended up losing 25 pounds in less than 2 months. Some weeks, we wouldn't do the egg thing and would just stick to normal low carb.

You can make things like egg salad, deviled eggs, souffle, etc. to make it more interesting. If you just eat scrambled eggs all day for 3 days it might get a little boring. We usually don't eat JUST eggs. About 90% eggs a little butter or mayo here and there as needed.

Is this a new type of fast that you can only eat eggs for a few days?

hhmm, if this work to break a stall than it might be worth trying. . .

Kiwi,

It was thought up by one of our forum members. And, yes, it does work. Each time i've done it, I've lost about 7# over 3 days.

Blessings!

Are we allowed veggies during egg fast5 or its purely eggs only?

But does it last? Have those of you who have done an egg fast been able to keep that weight off for the next month?

That was my question too. Does that weight stay if you go back on reg LC after?

I can't really answer that one, sorry. I was in the middle of a health crisis when I did it. Ended up basically having to go off LC for a while and put on some weight because of that.

Marcie did have very good results though. I don't suggest you try it if you are new to LCing, though. It is a stallbuster -- for someone who has tried other methods to break the stall (greater than 4 weeks.) I also use it to clean out my system from an allergy attack or bloating.

hth.

No, I did not regain when I went back to normal LC. Neither did DH. Now going to Italy...that's another story! lol

I agree with Sharron though, I really don't think it's for newbies. My husband and I did it because we were 18 months into low carb and getting within 30-40 pounds of our goal. Things were starting to get tougher and we found ourselves having to start counting calories. That's where the egg thing comes in.

Eggs are VERY filling so it doesn't take very many of them to make you full. You end up eating alot less and it's easy to eat low cal without being hungry.

And no, we did not eat veggies. Just eggs and a touch of cream (for scrambled eggs) and a little butter (to cook them in). And a couple of times I added a small amount of mayo to some chopped up hard boiled eggs to make what I call a "dry" egg salad. And a little salt and pepper.

Make sure you also drink plenty of water. A gallon a day MINIMUM.

Good luck.

Hi Marcie,

I was wondering, can you kindly post a sample "egg fast" menu here so that I have an idea approximately how many eggs you ate in a day?

Following on to that : Did the cholesterol factor concern you?

Thanks heaps!!

I tried the egg fast after the 3rd week stall started and was still going strong months later. I ate 2-3 scrambled eggs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and had a couple deviled eggs in between for snacks - didn't lose an ounce. Story of my life.

I feel like my posts are all really negative all the time, but I guess I'm one of the people this plan just doesn't work for. And drinking oceans of water and having patience week after week and month after month with no pounds and no inches lost just ain't cutting it anymore. Then again it's that TOM soon and I may just be in a hormonal funk. Hopefully I'll be all gung ho low carb again in a bit!
