Hello, me again.....I posted last week about this stinking stall i'm in. And yes I am still in it. The scale is teadering between the same 3 lbs it has for 5 weeks now!!! I'll be 132 and today i'm 134. I'm not doing anything different I added like 7 raspberrys one day this week...whoa. But....this is why I'm confused. I thought the diet required the higher fat intake to work. Like using heavy cream in your coffee or with your fruit, that hamburger is ok, and so is steak. What I have been reading is that people are adding veggies and cutting fat.....I love veggies I have no problem with that but I was under the impression fat was important....I certainly can do low carb low fat....but eeeek. I just want to see results. I haven't had one piece of bread, a taste of pasta, nada not even an apple which I used to be addicted to. Should I cut out my breakfast meat? Venting......

If you're 5' tall at 134, you're not far from your goal weight at all (which I assume is in the area of 105-120?) The last few pounds are going to take awhile to come off.

Some tweaking might be necessary, but yes, good fats ARE essential. Have you used Fitday at all to track the # of calories, percentage of fat, and number of carbs/fiber you're consuming? Usually if you do that for a week or so, you'll see areas that could use tweaking and/or improvement..

Today is the first I've heard of fitday. I will check it out. I haven't really ever counted carbs. I just know that I'm under because it seems the only food i eat is meat and eggs. I will check it out. Thanks!

If the only food you're eating is meat and eggs, you're definitely doing it wrong. You need carbs. If you're in the induction stage, you need 2 cups of salad veggies, plus 1 cup of other legal veggies per day.

After induction, you need to increase your carb level by 5 carbs per day for the third week, meaning at week 3, you should be at 25 carbs, week 4 you should be at 30 carbs, etc.

Have you purchased and read the book for whichever plan you're following? (I assume Atkins)...

I'm at a serious stall a few pounds from my goal. I'm treating it as a "resting stage" although I really would like to drop down eventually.

Whatever you do, don't skip any meals--especially breakfast! I really believe in the notion that the body goes into conserve mode if it feels calorie-deprived. Reducing calories too much could have a negative effect.

I haven't been tracking nutrients lately, but Fitday is a useful tool every now and then. Calories DO count, IMHO, and tweaking the balance of nutrients might be helpful. But I would say not to go too low with the fat. I was losing weight at 65-70% fat.

You should definitely be including lots of legal veggies--just about all you can eat--and a little fruit. I like frozen mixed berries or strawberries.

How about this...this is what I ate yesterday....

7:00 am 2 Scrabbled eggs w/1 slice amer. cheese
11:30 am 8 oz hamburger patty w/bacon and cheese, w/1 cup broccli and califlower 1 tab butter.
2:00pm 1 cup of florentine soup (chicken broth, chicken, spinich, mushrooms, red pepper, very little carrot.)
4:00 7 rasperries
7:45 egg hamburger(2oz) omelet, with 1 oz cheddar.
So after writing it down maybe I'm not eating enough veggies? But typically this is what i eat daily....in one variation or another...I do have the Diet revolution book and drink at least 64 oz of water....I'm not gaining so thats positive I would just like to know if i'm hindering something.....

Oh my gosh, yes you need veggies! Try adding a salad in with your lunch. Lettuce is your friend, as well as cucumbers. What is sobering is when you plug in your numbers into Fitday and seeing really how few carbs you are actually taking in. Why not throw in some chopped up green pepper with your omlete? A little scallion too, make it western? My favorite soup right now comprises of me boiling up some broth and throwing in mixed veggies, like chopped broccoli, a few green beans, some scallions, some cauliflower, mushrooms, a little salsa (really the salsa is great in soup, gives it a punch, but read the ingredients and make sure there is no sugar). This is a great way to get your veg in particularly in the winter time when you might be to wild about eating a cold salad.

For a snack, try eating some celery sticks or cucumber spears and maybe a little protein, like a hard boiled egg or deviled egg.

I hope that helps a little.

shepixie, please read Teelbee's response in the "Last Ten Pounds-fast or slow" thread. No one here is talking about "LOW FAT." Healthy fats are extremely important to health and to satiety. What we're talking about is that to reach goal, especially if we are small, *may* require cutting calories back to get those last pounds, and fats, being the most calorie dense food, are a good place to look to see if there's any excess. I don't think even the good doctor Atkins ever said "Hey, the more fat the better, go drink some Mazola"

In your case, upping your veggies and getting in adequate water may be all you need. However, you didn't mention (unless I missed it) exercise. Reving your metabolism to burn more body fat is really just as important as everyone has always told you it is

Just to add my .02...

You definitely need to up your water!

64 oz. is the *minimum* for people eating a *normal*, carb-laden diet -- NOT for people eating low-carb!
A low-carb way of eating can be very diuretic and so our bodies require more water than they do when we are not in ketosis. And if you are even slightly dehydrated, it WILL affect your weight loss.
You don't have to overdo it or gulp it all at once, but try increasing your water a bit and see if that doesn't help get things moving...

I eat my veggies with LOTS of fat, particularly a huge big glob of caesar dressing. I wish Costco carried my favorite dressings so I could buy it in bulk, I go through so much of it.
