As with all foods, YMMV! Some people have problems with adding processed LC foods, others do not. Personally, I wouldn't have more than one a day, and would keep the veggies up rather than adding the convenience LC foods.

Just my two pennies!

I'm going to recycle Kellie's pennies and agree. You definitely shouldn't be eating them every single day, several times a day.

A carb isn't a carb, unfortunatly. A couple times a week may not be so bad, and they do freeze well..

OK, let's call this my 2 centavos:

during OWL, I ate these pretty much daily! Just one, though, per day. The weight continued to go. I think they saved me, since most LC bread is, well, almost inedible.

Keep up the water and exercise, and your body will let you know how often you can eat these.

I know what you mean beansmom. when I first added them in after induction I went overboard.
Fajitas for dinner, wraps for lunch. with eggs for breakfast. They stayed in my intestines for about a week and a half and stalled me. If you're using La Tortilla brand then it has 9 grams of soluble fiber apiece - you'd think the problem I had wouldn't have occurred. But once i cut back on them i was fine.
BUT YMMV
so cut back and see if things change.

If you are losing consistently, feeling good, and not having cravings, then the tortillas might work for you, at least for now. If not, you know the answer......(and methinks you are craving tortillas! )

For some of us the tortillas are the "slippery slope" ao as everyone else says, YMMV.

After 9-10 months without any bread type product, I found the tortillas. A package of six usually lasts more than a week. They seem to work out just fine without causing a stall. But, I'm scared to try eating any LC breads. I'm afraid that they would lead me down the slippery slope.

Hi,

I actually feel eating a low carb tortilla in the morning (cheese melt usually for me) really helps my weight loss. I chalk it up to the high fiber content but I've found them not to cause a stall at all. Because others have found them to stall them I limit mine to 1 per day but haven't experienced a stall that couldn't be blamed on something else . They are invaluable to me for breakfast. I should caution that I don't eat many low carb specialty product and I firmly believe you can overdo those things.

I am actually super happy today because I went to get some deli meat at Albertsons and THERE THEY WERE- La Tortilla low carb tortillas in the cheese section. So glad- I don't have to take that extra trip to the health food store.

I personally don't conside the La Tortilla brand to be a "Low Carb Specialty Product" since I can find them in the regular tortilla section of many sotres, and they don't seem to be a convoluted mass of weird ingredients.

At any rate, I have never had a problem with them.

Hi,

My reasons for calling them that are :

1. They have limited availability in many areas, including my own (thankfully thats changing).

2. They are a processed product specifically packaged for low carb eating. If you doubt that you can read recommendations for the Protein Power diet & Fran McCulloughs Low Carb Cook book right on the back.

Jaime,

Clearly you need to move out to the SF Bay area where we don't have limited availability of anything.

Just call me spoiled in CA...

LOL..

The low carb thing has really taken off and it seems that the mainstream stores are catching up. It took me a month to find the tortillas at a health food store and I would hear "rumours" that they were this place or that but today was the first time I found them right there at the grocery store.

Ha Ha try to find them in the boonies..right on the Alabama/Florida state line. I mean we have to drive an hour for a Walmart. We also have about 8 red lights if that tells you anything

I sure will be glad when our stores have all these nice little extras that ours doesn't have yet. Ugh, the joys of the country!

I have one a couple of times a week, but I didn't like La Tortilla brand...I much prefer the Adios Carb Tortillas that I order from synergy.com. I usually have them with melted cheese and a little salsa, and they are really satisfying.
