Last night I drank, for the first time since beginning this WOL, rum and diet vanilla pepsi. I don't feel horrible except for the serious carb craving I'm having this minute. I think it's safe to assume that this is a trigger for me. ((I want coffee cake!!!))

I've been able to maintain ketosis for a solid two weeks and I don't want to blow it but I can tell I'm going to have serious issues today. AND I have to go to the grocery store today!

I've already cruised the kitchen and all cabinets, this is how it starts for me. Pretty soon I'll be in justification mode and that's a stone's throw from complete anarchy. Maybe if I keep typing I can talk myself down.

What do you do when your inner voice is bellowing, screaming, aching for carbs???

Sus~

Get some LC food in you - lots of it, and quick! Alcohol can really trigger carb cravings (as you can plainly see), so it's crucial that you not let yourself get hungry. Definitely fill up BEFORE you go to the store! Don't worry about quantities at all today - keep munching along all day if you need to, but keep it low carb.

Drinking a lot of water should help, too. You are doing so well - just get through today, and tomorrow you'll have all the more reason to be proud of yourself. Hang tough!

The first thing I do is find some meat and eat it and then I go to the computer and post like crazy until the urges pass!

Remind myself that I'm NOT hungry. Plan a legal "treat" - like cheesecake, chocolate mousse, or berries & cream - for later. Eat something delicious and legal NOW - with a big salad (it takes some time to eat - LOL!). DEFINITELY eat some protein and fat BEFORE you go to the supermarket. It's never good for your budget to shop hungry anyway.

HTH!

I will eat a large helping of cheesy eggs. Kicks any cravings for the rest of the day.

I'm back because I'm in phase two- justification. I just ate a few handfuls of popcorn (not horrible on the carbs but the beginning of a major problem for me) and am already trying to make it okay. At other times just like this I'd go totally off this WOE for this one day, maybe even two. This is such a STRUGGLE!! I'm trying hard, I really am. I don't need the guilt that accompanies any cheat. I'm trying to hurry up and poach these chicken breasts so I can make chicken salad lettuce wraps. I've got my water here... oh! I need gum... gum will help!

I feel crazy right now and I've never written about the struggle as it is happening. I usually go right for the food. I never realized how much I depended on it to cope.

Go, Sus, go!!! You can do this!!! Eat some cheese! Or if you have any cream, whip up a bit with Splenda and just eat it. The fat in whipped cream is satisfying and it REALLY fills me up when I want to binge! You can do this, Sus. Just stay calm. Don't let the cravings get to you! Perhaps after you eat, you could just get out of the house. Go for a walk, take DD to the park, even go out for a drive with some water. Keep up the positive self-talk, sweety!!!! You CAN do this!!!!!!

Cheers!

Sus, eat ample fat today and that will help soothe your cravings. How about induction starting tomorrow to completely ax those carb cravings. Emotional eating is very difficult to work through. Many of us on this board share this struggle with you.

Take care

Susan

When I am craving carbs, I remind myself how aweful I will feel after I eat them. Then, I eat a piece of cheese, or an egg or two. Atkins and EAS shakes fill me up and stop the cravings, as well. Good Luck!

Courage, Sus! Courage! Congratulations for turning here to talk about your cravings! You're on the road to recovery, girl! Don't forget that this way of eating is a way of life! When you can let the part that wants to sabotage your eating know that you will feed it but just not with what it wants, it will calm down.
Keep checking in. You are doing great!
