OK. I have been stalled since sometime in June. I started LC Sept of 2002 and lost 60 pounds..which is great. I am down to 190. I have heald this weight fluctuating 3-4 pounds on a regular basis. NOW ITS TIME TO RESUME PUTTING MY MIND TO LOSING. I was reading about Fitday on this web sight and decided to sign in and track my carbs, etc. I do not understand (or don't want to?) the average calories burned. This is what it shows:
AVERAGE CALORIES BURNED
TOTAL 2574
BASAL 1560
LIFESTYLE 1014
ACTIVITIES O
I have a sit down job approx 45-50 hrs per week. I am a member of Curves but due to my work hours and the limited opening hrs at Curves I haven't had the time to be there 3 times a week (I do make it 1-2 days per week). I am 46 with a 9 yr old. The question is: Am I eating too much? What numbers should I be expecting for a loss? I did check the help section on fitday yet I don't understand.
Thank You
Cindy

The numbers you cite are as follows.
Basal = number of calories you burn (based on weight) in a day just by being alive.
Lifestyle calories = calories burned based on the answer you gave fitday as to your lifestyle level of your profile. Activities = the individual things you do that are over and above what you normally do during a day. Like exercise otr moving furniture etc. So if you haven't added in your curves sessions to the activity list then nothing will be added in calories burned from activity.

Cindy ~

As an aside....if you live in a city of any size, there will be more than one Curves, and often the hours will vary from store to store. I think they all close for lunch (go figure) and are closed on Sundays, but some of the stores around here are open earlier & later than others. Maybe you can find one where the hours fit your schedule better and go there too...just ask for a travel pass at your "home" Curves.

quote:
The question is: Am I eating too much? What numbers should I be expecting for a loss?

Hmmm... that'd be hard for anyone here to say, not knowing your height, weight frame, etc.

There is a program that's similar to Fitday, but with more features. I think it could help you find answers to these questions. Like Fitday, you enter your stats (gender, height, weight, etc.) food and exercise. Dietpower takes all the data entered each day and evaluates it to come up with recommended calories. The longer you use it, the better it knows "you". I think it takes 15 to 30 days for it to get really fine tuned to the individual using it.

It has a lot of features, including a nifty recipe calculator. It can track up to 9 people in a household.

Unlike Fitday, you load the program on your own PC. This makes it much faster for food look-ups.

They have a free 15-30 day trial, and some pretty good demos on their website (www.dietpower.com). I wrote a more detailed description of the program here: more about DietPower features

Rob, Sky & teelbee thank you for your quick response. I am checking out that Dietpower - I can't access the internet from home - only from work, so I need approval for the download. Teelbee, I am 5'3 w/ a thick build (at 150 my waist is 34"). As I tell all my friends everything i own is wide! Right now I average 1500-1600 calories a day - approx 30-40 carbs, 10-20 of it in fiber. Thanks again for the advice,
Cindy
