This has happened a few times:

I'll meet someone new and the conversation eventually drifts to food or weight loss (as it always seems to with us gals ) I mention my loss, their mouths drop open, I'll get the up and down stare, and they'll say something like "Wow! You don't look like you ever had a weight problem!

Well, first and foremost, my wonderful sweet husband keeps telling me how proud he is of me and how he can tell I've lost weight when he hugs me. I also had several women from my church come up to me this weekend at a ladies conference, telling me, you look different, you've lost weight, haven't you? Woohoo, what a feeling. One of those same ladies called another lady that wasn't able to go this past weekend just to tell her how good I looked! WOW! Then on top of that she called me last night telling me, I knew you looked different this weekend, but I just had to tell you, Girl, you look good! Needless to say, that keeps me motivated! Doesn't it feel great when someone notices ya! Makes it all worth it and then some!

I'm a newbie here but I have to pop into this one. I've been on Atkins for 5 weeks and have lost 12 pounds so far. ( 208/196/140)
I don't really notice that I "look" any different yet. However, I have noticed that when I put on my bra.... I used to have it hooked on the furthest hook and now I can easily hook it on the closest one. (so, like, have I lost 6 lbs in each boob? LOL)

This last weekend my 19 year old DD was looking at me and asked, "Mom? How much weight have you lost?" I said, "TWELVE pounds" and she replied, "I can tell!"

That made me feel sooooo good!!
The second thing that makes me feel wonderful is that I've struggled for so many years with a severe carb/sugar addiction. Sweets were to me like drugs are to addicts or alcohol to alcoholics. And since I started this I amaze myself because I HAVE LOST ALL CRAVINGS FOR THAT KIND OF FOOD! I can watch people eat cake, icecream, donuts, cookies, etc. and not even miss it. I don't even want it!!

If I want a treat I know there are delicious low carb alternatives that are perfect. (Thank you, Lord, for Atkins Endulge Bars!)

I am recently divorced and have embarked on a wonderful journey to uncover the "me" that has been buried for 20 years. I'm so glad to have found this place. I used to go to ivillage, but for some reason my computer won't let me log in there anymore. I look forward to getting to know you all much better.

My husband tlls me I look better than the day we married! And yesterday, a person looking to join Curves said, "So in 6 months, I want to look like her," pointing right at me! made my day, I tell you.

I went out with some friends a few days before I started the diet and I hadn't seen them at all until last week (9 weeks & 23 lbs later) while everyone commented on how good I looked, there was one comment that made me feel Great. An old male friend goes "o'my you are looking more and more like that little hottie I remember from High School, I had such a crush on you back then!" That felt amazing, he has always dated the most perfectly skinny, most beautiful girls.

My husband and I are in this together, so we keep complimenting each other all the time. My DH keeps telling me how sexy I look. Just yesterday he pointed out how much firmer my arms look.

Besides that the coolest compliment I received the other day at work was some co-workers telling me how good I looked and the cheered with whistling and "you go, girl! " (female co-workers, mind you)
That made me feel way good

I don't have one so much about how I look per se, but I have one from my DH about my grocery shopping.

He noticed that I don't bring home candy bars or bags of candy from the store. Our grocery bags are filled with healthy whole food, not processed garbage!

I don't bring home any junk food anymore!

Some young men missionaries (around 20 years old) used to come play with my children when I weighed 352 pounds.

I saw one of those young men two years after I started low carb and had lost 150 pounds. I told him where I used to live (where he used to be stationed) and he said: "Hmm. I used to know a woman from there named April. Do you know her?"

It was me. He didn't even know me. When I revealed my identity, he was in shock. He told me I looked YEARS younger and that I looked GREAT!

That was the best moment. It made it all worthwhile.

I ran into one of my father's friends the other day and was talking to him. He wasn't very chatty and now I know why. My Dad said that his friend thought this young hottie was flirting with him. He didn't even RECOGNIZE me!

One day earlier this school year, the policeman at our campus cautiously stated, in no uncertain terms, that he did not want to offend me, or make any kind of comment that could be considered harrassment, but "How much weight have you lost --- Boy, it shows!"

Now, that's the politically correct way to go about it --- a lawman making sure he doesn't break the law.
