Good morning Hartensia!

The egg fast was dreamed up by one of our members about a year ago. She felt "inspired" to try just eating eggs only (cooked in fat of choice) for 3 days to see what happened. She'd been stalled for a couple of months. She dropped 7 to 10 pounds as I recall.

Marcie also was doing a variation of the same thing only she did it during the week until dinner time, then ate fairly "normally" (LC) at dinner and on the weekends. She also lost a ton and it was long term.

I've done it a number of times to help me get over an allergic reaction/severe bloating. It always works. Sometimes I'll do plain kefir as a drink on the side with my eggs. I always scramble mine in lard and/or coconut oil. I never eat them any other way when I'm doing it. That way I don't have to think about it! Usually I just do it for a day or two and only through lunch. I'll usually have almonds for an afternoon snack and a normal LC dinner. It always brings on ketosis if I've been out!

hth!

Blessings!

I've never heard of the egg fast, sounds like a good idea.

Oooh, thanks for sharing that! I will definitely keep that in mind when I have stalled and my "Accel" quits doin' it for me.

Ok.. now I gotta go find out what "kefir" is... cause I'm in the dark about that one.

Michelle,

Kefir: Go to the caveman forum on this site.

Veronica: Be sure and save this for when you have well and truly stalled...

Sharron, Could I ask you, if you know, what might be a clear indication that someone is allergic to eggs? Would it be different for each person?

I get bad stomach aches sometimes when I eat eggs. Doesn't happen all the time. I was curious because I'm thinking about having the flu shot and they say if you're allergic to eggs, you shouldn't have the shot.

I am not truly sure I am allergic, never been diagnosed as such. You've battled food allergies, so I thought you might have some helpful advice

Thank you.

Karen,

On my site, I describe a simple self-test for allergies that my ND taught me. Maybe it will be helpful to you??

Hartensia –

I beat my eggs with a little heavy cream and also use some type of fat to cook . Butter, lard, or coconut oil. A small, small amount of cream cheese or ricotta would probably be fine. I also make egg salad sometimes for an egg fast and use mayo. In essence, this ends up being a modified fat fast.

Like Sharron said, it always works.

veronica--I noticed on another thread that you said you were eating grapes and honeydew and whole grains--Are you sure you arent eating too many carbohydrates? If you are stalling, those things wouldn't work???? Maybe I missed something here--

Veronica, if Ouis is correct, I know I can't lose eating any of those things. I can tolerate a LITTLE melon occassionally, but not those other items.

Maybe just back to induction for a few days to re-instate ketosis before doing something as drastic as the egg fast? It really should be a last resort.
