is it inappropriate to ask cost of shakes?

"Ongoing Weight Loss" at Low Carb Diet Support: "I found the Atkins ready to drink shakes at a health food store and they were $9.00 per 4 pack! Wal-Mart had them for $7.95. Is this still high? I bought some and love them ...."

I found the Atkins ready to drink shakes at a health food store and they were $9.00 per 4 pack! Wal-Mart had them for $7.95. Is this still high? I bought some and love them but feel like I"m spending a fortune (I have to "eat" on the run and they make it easy for me.) Am I paying way too much?

That's actually about right.. If you buy them individually, you'll pay anywhere from $2.29 to $2.99 per can out of the cooler...

I make my own shakes and drink them on the way to work. They are easy and much tastier than any premade shake in a can!

1 scoop whey powder or soy powder
ice
a bit of cream (amount depends on your liking)
a few rasberries, strawberries or blueberries
1/2 to 1 cup of water (more or less depending on amount of ice)
sugar free vanilla syrup

blend until smooth and enjoy!!

I've seen them at $11.99 for a 4-pack and then also at $7.95 on sale.

I can buy them individually at Trader Joe's for $1.99 each, but they don't always have the flavor I want in stock.

I just buy a bunch when they're on sale and stack 'em in the cupboard. They're good heated too--the Cafe au Lait and the Chocolate Royal are both great that way, and with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top - yum!

I will sometimes make my own shake too, but have to admit that it's very easy to "grab and go" with the canned shakes and besides - I LIKE them!
