IT WENT GREAT!!!
He just kept smiling. He asked what I had to eat in a day, how many carbs etc etc. I told him I had Maggie's Flax cereal in the AM and he said "Oh, you are modifying Atkins??" I went on to explain that after 5 mos Atkins really has quite a range of "legal" foods and I just choose to add some other things but keep within my carb quota.

I have not been going to this Dr. long and was a bit concerned because he is so conservative in most of his approaches. Blood work will be done in Dec. Meanwhile he congratulated me and said keep it up. It's great to have him be so supportive.

Thanks to all on this board. You have helped keep me on the straight and narrow.

... so now should I add to the recipe section that my concotion is "doctor approved" ? LOL!

Rave, I'm so happy for you! Some of the most conservative doctors I know are coming around at this point. I think it's patients like us that help educate them about what a low carb diet REALLY is. There's nothing like empirical evidence to put all the "words about" into context.

quote:
IT WENT GREAT!!! He just kept smiling.

Is that cool, or what? I think most doctors would be thrilled for a patient that lost 45 lbs in 5 months. Well done!

On Thursday, I have my first appt. with my doctor since I began LC in January. I'm sure he'll approve of my healthy weight--and youthful energy! We'll see what the bloodwork will show, but I'm not worried.

Glad you had a good experience!

Good Luck Barb,
I'm sure that any weight loss at all is great in the eyes of a doctor. I hope your bloodwork supports the LC WOL as well. Mine has been put off until Dec when I will have been LCing a good solid six months.
