I'm just wondering if anyone has read this book. Someone told me that it basically encourages a LC lifestyle. Is this true? I'm trying to get some tips on working out and I think this might be a good book to just follow the exercises, at least from what I've heard. 194/179/125 (5'4) And I'm gonna make it this time!

Yes I have that book. I followed that program for awhile. I wouldn't really consider it low carb though. But the principles of exercise in it are very good. I was doing well with that. Michelle -- 208/196/140 Started Atkins 9/03 On my way to finding the new me.... WATCH OUT WORLD!!

I like reading Body for Life, just because of all the inspirational hype--and the great before/after pictures. (Results not typical! Bill Phillips's exercise plan emphasizes short duration, maximum exertion. It takes real focus to perform his routines correctly, but I can see where people who do them get results. BEST results might require gym-style equipment, especially for the weight training. Check out the book from the library, and see what you think. P. S. If you want workout tips, take a look at some of the fitness magazines: Shape, Fitness, Self--these usually feature at least one total body exercise routine every month. You'll get a good idea of what's helpful. Barb L. Started Atkins January 2003 162/141/130

| Bill considers his nutrition plan LC because its lower than the carbs recommended by the USDA, but at 40% it's considered high by true LC standards. you can do the weight training while LC'ing. I know many who've done it, including myself. wanna see inspriational pics? www.bodychangers.com the BFL book is only in hard cover, so it's more $$ than a paper back... look on Ebay for it.... or your library. the exercises in the book are limited, but it can get you started. i have pages and pages of my BFL experience on my web site... you can get ideas that way if you want. | I really like Body for Life. It's definitely NOT a low carb diet plan. BFL would have you eating 40% of your daily Calories with carbs. I try for about 2000 Cal per day, so that would be 800 Cal of carbs, which is about 200 gms. WAY more than Atkins would have you do. The type of food is also different, stressing natural, and low fat food. Personally, I have gone to more of the Body for Life diet, and I'm continuing to lose weight. It's a little alarming to increase your carbs that much, but if it works for you, it's a good thing. It's working for me, and I love his motivation and exercise plans. Drop me an email if you'd like to discuss this more off-forum. I have some other info you might be interested in. John (golfunit@yahoo.com) July 03, 2003 202/172.5/170 |

Thanks everyone for the responses. I currently have the book on hold at my local library - must really be popular! My boyfriend has been very successful doing the Atkins WOE and BFL workouts. He has lost over 80lbs and is moving quickly towards goal, thanks to taking essential oils and weight training. I hope to catch up with him and one day have a website with our before and after shots. Wait a minute, I don't HOPE - I WILL do it. ![]() 194/179/125 (5'4) And I'm gonna make it this time!
