| I am just starting this phase... I've lost 15 lbs so far... was in a stall for 2 1/2 weeks, and I understand that the weight loss slows down after you leave induction. what I'm wondering is if you're still in ketosis?? Or if you're loosing the weight from healthier eating, and regular exercise..... Started Atkins 10/6/03 220/207/170 "To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides." - David Viscott |

| Congrats! 15 pounds is wonderful. You can use the ketostixs (sp) and keep an eye on your ketosis, that is what really keeps me going. When I left induction around 2 weeks ago, the strips were not as "pink" due to altering and increasing my carb intake. I use the sticks religously, but you can not get discouraged if you have a 'bad reading'. Just think back in the day to see what you had altered originally and see if that was it. Excersise will increase your ketosis and it will assist your mentab to keep kicking. I am not a "scale girl" so I use my sticks to check my status, and so far so good. But again, I do not get worried when I have a off reading those days are going to happen especially when you have gone from induction (no life) to starting your new one! Keep it up, you will be just fine |

| Now.. I did some reading about this phase on the website (Atkins).. and I didn't really answer my question... Maybe some one here can... When you first start out in OWL are there foods that you should stay aware from? Or is it all pretty safe as long as your carb counting and not eating the "NO NO" foods (ie. pasta, bread etc..)Does anyone know of a list that I can get my hands on?? I got more veggies today, ones with more carbs...and I got some fresh fruit, cottage cheese, low carb tortillas etc.. any other suggestions? | Congratulations on the 15 pounds lost so far - that's a great start! The Atkins book and website both have lists of which foods to add after induction, in what quantities, and in what order. In my opinion, this is the point where people tend to get off track with the Atkins approach, so it's very important to take a "scientific" and measured approach to ongoing weight loss. It's tempting to just start adding in whatever sounds good as long as it's a low-carb food, but that's not the preferred method. Doing it by the book generally yields the best results. Keep drinking lots of water, and if you're not already exercising, get the old bod moving. It just keeps getting better from here! Sky Atkins since 8/02 186/144/under 150 |
