| I was within 6 lbs of my goal weight. (I only had 14 lbs. to lose all together). I had been stalled for weeks and then last THursday I just fell off the wagon. Maybe I just got so tired of waiting for the scale to move, I don't know. ANyway, now I just can't seem to get back on plan. EVERYTHING is tempting (it doesn't help that TOM is around the corner) and I have to force myself to even get 50 ounces of water in me. I really would appreciate any advice including how to get these last 6 pounds off once I can get consistent with this WOE again. Thanks and blessings, Martha |

| Hi, Martha. I think the answer to your question is in your post:
quote:
I really would appreciate any advice including how to get these last 6 pounds off once I can get consistent with this WOE again.

You've just put the cart before the horse. Generally, if one actually DOES make this a consistent way of eating, weight will normalize over time and will be maintained. Shark doesn't follow the Atkins program. The "woodshed" treatment, while Shark finds it helpful, may not be for everyone. It's certainly not the traditional OWL approach and would not be recommended for anyone who has pre-existing blood sugar issues. | Martha, have you considered trying to "taper off" your binge by turning it into a low-carb binge? Fry up a pound of bacon. Scramble a dozen eggs with a half-pound of cheese in them. Put a gigantic steak on the grill and top it off with garlic butter. Sort of like being on a runaway horse; you don't try to jerk it to a stop, you just try to pull its head around and steer it in another direction. Good luck! I know what it can be like to be in the throes of a binge. Aderyn |

| I agree with the lowcarb binge suggestion. My TOM this time around was horrible! I was like a bottomless pit for about a week. I went on a low carb binge and ended up maintaining. Make all meat chili over rutabega "fries" topped with cheese and sour cream. Kumus low-carb chocolate, cheesecake, chicken wings. Thier is a ton of great stuff that might help you through the binge without packing on the pounds. Most important, don't beat yourself up for binging on the high carb stuff. It happens. Just take off from where you are! |

| It's funny but nowdays a binge to me is lowcarb ice cream and porkskins with dip that has some carbs, nuts, low carb chocolates and some low carb beer. You've just got to change your thinking. I'm not saying I don't eat a hamburger with bun and french fries now and again, but last time I ate pizza I had a 430 blood sugar even after a big shot. Not worth it. |

| I think Aderyn gave you great advice. Pig out on low-carb food. I think that everybody that's in this for the long haul has to find their own solution to this problem. Sooner or later, everybody starts to fall off the wagon. I suspect for most people, including me, slipping off the wagon becomes its own habit after a while and can gradually consume your whole program. My approach is somewhat purist -- I just don't allow slips. It's easy to not have slips because I work hard at making my eating plan as effortless and satisfying as I can. I'm just too tired of the way I used to eat to go back to it. ************** "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. | Ditto Aderyn and Doc, that’s what I do if I get out of control and can’t seem to stop. I just start pigging out on legal stuff and then eventually, I begin to taper those foods down to a more normal intake. Shark – You are more than welcome to post in this forum, Maggie said nothing in regards to you not posting. You both have every right to post your opinions on this board assuming those opinions are not advocating some type of harm or danger to anyone. Just remember, if you suggest something that others on the board find a little “risky” then you’re sure to get some differing opinions. It’s no problem. We don’t always agree on everything but what we DO try to maintain here at LCE is respect for fellow board members.
