This might be old news for everybody but I laughed when I saw it. KFC has a commercial now where a guy walks up to another guy sitting on the tailgate of a truck. He says "Gee, Bob you are looking really good...what have you been eating?" Bob looks up with a piece of fried chicken in his hands and says "Chicken!". The commercial then goes on to say something to the effect "If you are counting carbs and increasing your protein...one breast of KFC chicken is only 11 grams of carbs and 40 grams of protein..."

I guess its a start with all these food chains finally starting to see the light. Now if they could just come out with their chicken breaded with almond flour or something we would be rockin.

Gotta tell ya, that ad cracked me up. KFC doesn't really care - they're marketing gurus talked 'em into advertising low carb so they can regain market share!

To me 11 carbs for a piece of chicken is too many. I will continue to eat my occasional piece of KFC by debreading it. I wish they would go back to their roasted chicken. We have 3 KFCs locally and none of them sell the roasted. I always thought that was better than the fried anyway.

It is great though to see the major chains "coming on board". This should give us more choices. Yeah!!

I confess --- I sometime eat Popeye's Fried Chicken. I generally count is as way more carbs than that......Hummm, maybe I should change.

LOL, Rob!

It's like Protein Power, when they say you can snack on one Hershey's Kiss or five potato chips.

Yeah, right.

Maybe somebody else can, but not me.

I'm glad to see more and more restaurants and food manufacturers acknowledging the lc lifestyle, but I still wouldn't touch KFC with the proverbial 10-foot pole. That stuff is absolute poison to me - instant heartburn, indigestion, and edema - but I used to eat it all the time anyway, one of my favorite binge foods. Never again!

Besides, their website lists the carb count for one breast as 16, not 11, plus half a day's worth of sodium. And I presume the stuff is fried in hydrogenated oil, or they'd be making a statement about no transfats. When "real" chicken is so good, the thought of this greasy, battered stuff gives me the willies.

Sure never thought I'd be criticizing my dear old companion, The Colonel!

I told my hubby oh yeah and who eats one piece. That commercial is really streching it. It's for people who aren't really following a low carb diet , you know the people that tell themselves they are on a diet but then go eat a whole bag of chips.Kinda like the low carb beer it's funny to see people drinking it while eating a pizza.I guess if it makes them feel better

Hey, I eat KFC sometimes. I just pull that annoying breading off of it first.

Even better than KFC is Pollo Loco. (Which, I suspect, is not available in the rest of the USA?) Pollo Loco is barbequed unbreaded -- ZERO carbs per serving. And it's delicious.

We used to have Pollo Loco around here, but they all changed/closed. That was good stuff. I can still get a rotisserie chicken at most of the supermarkets if I really want one, but it's not the same...

I've done the bread pulling thing as well, but not often. I seem to recall that some years ago KFC used to have a non-breaded baked chicken, but it didn't go over very well. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

The problem isn't the chicken - it's the biscuit, and the slaw, and the mashed potatoes, etc., etc. lol!! Removing the coating from the chicken I can deal with!!
