| Just wanted to let you all know of a light bulb moment that came to me last weekend that may help others. I see so many people dogging on themselves because they "have gone off" or "cheated" on this WOE. I feel badly about that because IMHO they have not yet gotten it..... This is not a "diet". This is a new way of eating!!!!! I realized last weekend that even if I don't lose another pound that I never again want to go back to my old eating habits. Perhaps I am luckier than most in the fact that I used to get major heartburn daily and NEVER get it now. I feel so much better that I am actually AFRAID to eat bread or pasta which is what I believe caused the reflux. Also I know the sugar made me tired and lethargic. I wish I was more eloquent in trying to explain myself or at the least had a magic wand to wave that could give everyone here the same feeling of peace I felt when I finally "got it". | Becki, you explained it just fine! I know exactly what you mean. The other day I was scrabbling around in my "drug stash" to find the fresh bottle of vitamins I knew was in there and came across my bottle of Pepcid. Not long ago, I bought this regularly in the largest size available; now, I can't remember the last time I took one! I "get it," too! Aderyn |

| I could have written that post! I feel exactly the same! I know what you mean, I wish there was a really profound way to say it, because it's such a profound thing, but I don't how. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't just feel like they are living their life. I would also eat this way if I never lost another pound. I don't even think about food anymore. Other people are the ones who want to talk to me about it all the time and sometimes I forget that they look at it as a "special diet." I don't look at it as anything. And I'm happy about that. And I usually don't want to talk about it or have anything to say. It's so natural for me. Thanks so much for posting this! -WW |

| I too understand the "I get it". I know I too would not go back to that WOE i left behind. I feel so much better, lighter, freeer, not bound by cravings and "needs" of the sugar, white flour, etc.....I think I got it when after induction we went out of town for labor day weekend to visit some friends. The day after we got there I went to the grocery store and bought what i needed to have in the house to make sure it wasn't a bad weekend. I even walked every day I was there (never did that when we visited before) so I felt it was a great weekend because I didn't stop my WOE because I wasn't home. carolyn in texas started 8/11/03 327/303/150 |

| Becki, I wish there were more posts like yours! Hek, I wish there were more threads like this. | Becki, Welcome to the "light" side. Once we "get it", it is like the light came on. We no longer wander around in the groggy fog caused by poor eating habits. Judy 180/142/138 "How long does getting thin take?" Winnie the Pooh,Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne |

| Hi Becki, great post! I remember when I came to that realization. I just "clicked" with me that this really is a WOL, and that if I never lost another pound that's ok. The trade-off for this WOE/L, is that I feel so alive! Take care~ Susan LCE Member since 01/02 |

| Becki, it is truly a good feeling to not be "on a diet". This is a way of life! Aderyn, I also use to be a big antacid eater. I tried prescription meds and they did not even work. Low carb has cured my tummy problems If more people would only believe all of the benefits of low carb eating <<<shaking my head in wonderment>>>.
