I think we're eating at Olive Garden today for work. Besides their yummy salad, does anyone have suggestions for what's safe to eat? I was thinking salad and stuffed mushrooms, but I can't find any nutritional info. Their website only gives it for their Garden Fare items, which have extremly high carb counts.

So....can anyone HELP ME?

I looked up their lunch menu, the part that isn't garden fare and everything come swith pasta. But I don't see why if you ordered something like the garlic-herb chicken con broccoli they wouldn't give you extra broccoli instead of the pasta.
Don't forget they have that bottomless salad bowl and that will fill you up. Ask the waiter what the restaurant will do to accomodate low carbers. It's a pretty progressive chain so I imagine they'll be pretty accomodating.

Don't forget that you can always call a restaurant ahead of time and ask about the menu and what substitutions they're willing to make. It's always much easier to order when the time comes that way.

Olive Garden Menu

Actually, there are quite a few choices. Have fun and avoid the pasta

I always have the chicken mar...something lol. It comes with potatoes, but i just eat the chicken and veggies along with the salad. I tell the waiter to not put the potatoes in my plate. Hope that helps!

Yep... I order chicken or shrimp and ask for extra veggies, salad and no rice, pasta or potatoes. They are always happy to accomodate. And if they do it without giving a hard time I leave them a bigger tip.

There's always the standby,Chicken Ceasar Salad..doh!

I think I'm going to open a low-carb restaurant and everything will be high-fat/protien, and I'm going to serve ONE low-fat item... a breaded chicken ceasar salad with low-fat dressing. That'll show 'em!

Thanks for the tips, everyone. We actually made it to go and since everyone here loves their salad, we ordered a large (for about 6 people) and some stuffed mushrooms. Exactly what I wanted anyway! It was great.

And of course, I passed on those breadsticks.
