HI There, Is it possible my carb equilibrium is 25? Every time I've gone over the 25, to 30 or 35 say, I don't only NOT lose weight- I gain some back! I can't imagine that 25 is my equilibrium point, but it very well could be. Any thoughts? Thanks :-)

| One way to find out is to test yourself with ketostix. If you are still in ketosis at a higher carb level, then it's safe to increase your carbs to that level. ************** "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. | How much are you exercising.... I've read in several places that if you exercise regularly you can actually have a higher CAC..... Started Atkins 10/6/03 220/205/170 "To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides." - David Viscott |

Remember that if you are eating too many calories and fats your body burns those first. It may just be a matter of a trade-off. If you can be satisfied with 25 carbs then you may not need to change the way you eat. Low carbing gives a good caloric advantage but it;s not an unlimited advantage. I find I can eat 300 or 400 calories more on low carb than I could on low fat diets and still have the same weight loss. YMMV Rob

I'm confused. Wouldn't seeking a carb equilibrium mean you're no longer seeking to lose weight, but trying to find the level of carbs which would allow you to maintain your weight? Or am I missing something? Maggie 5'1" ~~ Atkins since '98 (160)/Maintaining nicely (110) ~~ Redhead until further notice!

Hi Maggie, In trying to slow my weight loss down, since I am 10 pounds away from goal, I was adding carbs in incrememnts of five. But I wasn't losing over time- I was gaining. So I posed the question here wondering if it really is possible to have such a low Equilibrium point. Thanks, :-)
