Can you ladies out there tell me if low-carb eating has affected your monthly cycle? Mine has been completely haywire since I started a low-carb lifestyle last June and I am curious to see what others are experiencing. I am also on the lookout for any information on the web regarding this topic.

yes, i have heard other people say the same thing. i think its with any change in eating habits, not just low carb. i haven't personally experienced this too bad, it maybe a little off here and there but not haywire.

Lucky for me I no longer have that problem. But when I did low carbing about 4 years ago -- I noticed that things were a lot heavier and more irregular. But my PMS was not as bad.

Not a fun trade-off IMHO.

Mine was always haywire *before* LC. Now it's dependable, not a major pain, and completely predictable, with almost no PMS symptoms.

This comes up quite frequently in the Women's forum. You might want to check out some of the topics there.

(It's fine to post your question here. You'll just find more threads on the topic in that forum.)

Since LC I don't even know it's coming! No bloat, no cramps. It doesn't seem to last as long either.

I'm right there with you sonbin, mines never been 'normal', however, since I began, my last 2 have been crazy...haywire is a good description. Last longer, heavier, more cramped than normal, even some spotting in between - but, I keep listenin to everyone, and hopin they will become normal real soon!

Isn't bein female wonderful??? lol

I have experienced some of the same problems.
I am on the pill, and still my body has given me issues for the two months I have been doing Atkins.
The first month it came a week early during week three and was gone when it should be there the fourth week.
The second month, it wanted to come a week early in week three, but only spotted. But then when it should have come the fourth week, it only spotted as well.
I figure that it should work itself out this month, the third month I am LCing. We will have to see.

Not gonna quit!

Haywire? Not the word I would use. I've had my period as many as three times in one month. Never had this problem before, but I'm also going through menopause so maybe that's the problem and not the lcing. I'm getting pretty tired of this. Dr. says my body is much younger than my age. Just what I wanted! I just want this to be over, I've had my turn long enough.

I'm at the perimenopause stage, and have to say that my periods have actually stabilized since going LC. Hardly any PMS symptoms any more either, and I end up only taking Advil maybe once or twice instead of every 6 hours for 3 days! I'll take that!

Of course I'd prefer it just STOP altogether - one of these days....

I haven't noticed any change. I am so regular because of the pill it's not even funny. It even starts around the same time of day each month. Unfortunately, I do think the hormone affect how quick the weight is coming off.

I have recently gotten off the pill and had an IUD put in, which affects your cycle. Mine seemed heavier the first time after I started Atkins, but now that I have this IUD, it is really light, almost not there. Its great!
