| I eat steak(8 oz's) for breakfast, and chicken during lunch and dinner .....I have chicken so I still eat meat. So is there really any reason that I should continue to eat steak if I make these substitutions? thanks for your time, I just have a hunch ill lose weight faster this way, but I dont know hopefully you do |

| Hello, and Welcome to LCE. ![]() First of all, I want to say, low carb eating is more than meat, eggs and cheese. I'm wondering if you are *winging it* on your own and not following one of the usual LC plans like Atkins, Protein Power, or even SouthBeach, and I'm also going to ask, "where are your vegetables?" If you are not on an established LC eating plan, I would strongly suggest you study up on several, and pick the one that suits you best. In addition, reading the book for the plan you pick is a great benefit as well. That way you know exactly which foods you can eat, which foods to avoid, and most importantly, how to truly live the LC lifestyle for the rest of your life and maintain your weight loss for good. Protein is the main nutrient you are getting from steak, eggs and cheese, not fat. Your fats should be mostly in the form of good oils, such as olive or canola, nuts, and yes, flaxmeal or flax oil. As far as breakfast goes, you could have both steak and eggs; 4 oz cooked steak with 2 eggs would certainly be filling and a very nice protein load to start the day. Best wishes on your journey to healthy eating and weight loss. You can do it! s
