I was off in Ben & Jerry's land for a while, but I've come back and want to get on track before I hit the holidays and totally ruin my diet.

I want to know what percent of fat, carb and protein I should be getting. I use FitDay, have about 40-60 carbs a day. I'm still in OWL (since 1/1/03) because I keep telling myself I want to lose more weight. I've also read about not getting enough calories and often find I only make it 1,200 per day - when I think I should be getting 1,500.

I've only been using FitDay on and off, so I couldn't really tell you what ratio I'm getting now.

I drink my water, eat salads for lunch and eggs for breakfast. Dinner always varies or else I get bored. It's the ice-cream afterwards that has to stop!

    Thanks for all your help!

I'd definitely up the calories. If you want to eat 40 to 60 carbs then that's 160 to 200 calories. If you think you should be eating 80 grams of protein then that's 320 calories. So you have say 500 calories for the day so far. If you want to make sure you get 1500 calories then you need a 1000 calories of fat or 66%.
These are approximations but you see what I'm getting at. The fat is the last element in the equation. decide your protein allowance and carbs then fats take care of themselves. If the ratios matter to you then you'll need to use a tracker like fitday at least until you get a feel for how you want to eat.

Well, yes, the ice cream has to go. How about making yourself some sugar-free Jell-O? A different flavor for each night of the week! Top it off with a big blob of home-made whipped cream (with Splenda). You'll get that sweetness you crave, along with some extra fat calories.

I aim for about 1500 calories/day. It works out to about 80-100 g protein, 65% fat, the rest in carbs--whether veggies, dairy, or miscellaneous.
