hopefully someone who's at goal can help me with this one... first let me start by telling a little about me, I've been reading these boards since Jan 03, when I decided I'd like to lose 20 lbs. I discovered low carb and started Atkins Feb 1 '03. The original goal of 20 happened in the third week of induction. I liked that an decided to continue this lifestyle permanatly. When the weather got nice in April, I bought a schwinn and hung up the car keys for the summer/fall. I reached my goal of 170 in Sept. I made a new goal of 10% bf/six pack abs and here is where I'm stuck with about ten lbs to go.. any suggestions about what to try? this is what I've done so far since oct 1 with slow results..

HIIT cardio 45 mins five days a week
weight training, circuits four days a week
upped my good carbs ie: lots of veggies ect.
kept my calories at or below 2000 a day
four meals a day instead of two
upped the water to almost 2 gal a day
1 cheat meal a week to try boosting metab.

hopefully someone knows a secret that I have'nt found on these boards I really appreciate all the great people here with all the great support everyone provides, you guys have been wonderful for me even though I never post. By the way I'm 28yr male that does'nt breathe hard after a flight of stairs anymore.

thanks, Jeremy

Maybe your goal is unrealistic??? Your body may be trying to tell you that things are good as they are.

Jeremy, your stated goals now were 10%bf and six pack abs. So how's the bf and abs?

Since I'm a female (and an older one at that), my experience may not apply to yours at all. However, I'm another person who would like to shed that "last" ten pounds--and have not been able to do so in six months of faithful low-carbing, calorie-counting, and daily exercise (cardio and weights).

I think the body has its own idea of what's healthy and appropriate. So, I've changed my goal (more or less) to maintenance. Sometimes it feels like I'm running as fast as I can to stay in one place. But staying in one place beats the yo-yo thing by miles. I'm stronger and fitter in every way than ever before in my life. The commitment is working.

Best wishes to you!

Sounds like your goal is a BMI of about 22, totally reasonable for a 28 year old male. Six pack may require your body fat to be closer to 7%, but you are on the right track. Personally I've used the formula of body weight times ten equals the daily number of calories.Low carb has definetly made it easier for me not to get over hungry at lower calorie levels. One gram of protein for each pound of body weight if you're going to lift.I recommend three meals and three snacks to keep insulin levels stable, psyllium a few times a day for about 20 grams of fiber and appetite control. Don't over train but keep the intensity high. Intervals during cardio won't require more than thirty minutes every other day.Keep the time between sets to under one minute and have the weight lifting days done in forty minutes.Strict form is more important than how much weight you use. I've cycled betwen BMI of 24 and 19 for many years, 21 is were I feel and function the best. As a woman I can tell you a BMI of 21 is were a man looks his best.

thanks for the suggestions everyone, I guess it's just a matter of having more patience, I got to my main goal very quickly so I just want the love handles gone as fast as the rest went, checked body fat on sat and I'm at 17%, so I'll continue the exercise and quit the beer (the one part of my diet I did'nt give up). My guess is with no beers I'll get results pretty fast. Thanks again

Those last few pounds (love handles) will haunt you for a long time. That's just about the way these things always work out. The best thing to do is keep doing what you know already works.
