the line that i am hearing all to often. "your getting too skinny, will you eat something already." i get this from friends and relatives. it's driving me crazy. i know i don't look sickly, as someone had said to me. my first rection is always jealousy. these people know they're overweight and want everyone to be like them so they would feel normal. i don't want to be rude but i have to say something.

Well, I agree with you that it's jealousy. I guess I'd just thank whoever it is for the compliment and tell them that you've worked hard to get where you are AND that you DO eat. Then just laugh it off.

BTW, congrats on your loss! I bet you look super!

    Cheers!

My mother in law constantly tells me that I am too thin and that I need to fatten up. My response is always, "Nope, I've got ten more to go!" We are our own worst critics, so if you think you look good, you do. Jen's right - it is jealousy, and has nothing to do with you. If someone were to tell me that I looked sickly (and I stinkin' well know I don't) my response would be a cold stare and a "I beg your pardon?"

Good luck and revel in the envy!

Tell them "been there, done that" & you feel better than you ever have in your life! And thanks very much, but I eat until I'm full.

If that doesn't work ask them if your new look makes them uncomfortable? (We know it does!)

Tell them you have never felt better and that you are eating healthier than you have ever eaten in your life. What the he** business is it of theirs anyway????

I don't believe it's jealousy. It's just that people don't like change. They are use to the way you used to look and they find the new you disturbing. It's human nature and I suggest that you not get offended. Merely reply that you feel well and thank them for their concern.

There are all kinds of reasons people do that.

You know... I think it's like when you watch somebody else working really hard. It makes you feel tired for them, so you want to tell them to sit down and have a coke with you.

Maybe that's how they feel. As long as you are dieting, they are tensed up.

"How about food is fuel. I'm running on a full tank and feeling pretty darn good!" then invite them to join you on a brisk walk around the block

Or, "Hey, you could stand to lose a few pounds, too. You've been turning into a tub of lard lately." Put them on the defensive!
