I am a newbie that has been lurking, and following Atkins since 10/13. I have lost 20 pounds, and about 1 size.

I currently am eating 35 gms. of carbs daily. My weight bounces up and down a bit each day, but the trand has been predominately down hill. I work out 6 times a week, and have been in ketosis every day since day 2 of induction.

Since my weight fluctuates, how can I catch my CCLL before I eat at too high of a level for too long? If I am in ketosis, does that mean I am still below my CCLL?

Thank you,

LG

Welcome, LG.

During OWL, ketosis is generally a good sign that you're within your CCLL. It is usually only when you step into pre-maintenance that you lose the reassuring ability to check on ketones every day. By that time, however, you've usually learned a great deal about yourself and how to eat for YOU.

For most of us, OWL is a time of inching up and backing off. During this period, (absent a major digression) it is usually easy to back into ketosis again even if you've moved past it.

I hope you'll post often and keep us up to date on your progress.

I've been in OWL since about June. I'm not counting carbs as closely as I did in the beginning, but definitely sticking with the prescribed lists.

When I feel like I might have stepped over the line, I use the ketostix. The reading changes depending on time of day, exercise, and who knows why? But I'm usually back "in the pink" within a day or so of resuming a (somewhat) lower carb intake.

I haven't been able to establish a specific number. If and when I reach "goal," I might begin logging carbs for a while to see if I do have a maintenance carb target.
