I have been doing this woe for almost 2 months now. In this two months I have been sick (cold, flu, bronchitis) like sick twice already. I am eating more veggies than ever so I don't know if this is just because it is flu season or because of my diet. I am not a pill taking person at all but I think I may need to start taking a vitamin. If I were to take one pill per day (I cant handle all of what Dr Atkins talks about) which vitamin would you suggest and where would I find it? I appreciate your help. Anita

I'd recommend a good multi-vitamin and mineral for starters.
And vitamin C - a minimum of 500 mgs per day.
Also a calcium supplement can be helpful but if you use www.fitday.com and get a nutrition report based on your food intake you will see whether you are getting enough calcium. In fact fitday will list all vitamins/minerals and whether you have reached the RDA. Walmart has vitamins at a good price or get them online.
Puritans Pride has soem excellent sales all teh time.

Hi, Anita.

I can't lay out to ambitious a plan of supplements either. If it's more than one or two pills, I start to "forget" because I hate it. I'd rather take one or two pills each morning than lay out an ambitious schedule of supplements that I know I won't take.

Like Rob, I take a broad spectrum mulit-vitamin and extra C. I get the C in 1000 mgs and get at least one each day with my multi. Sometimes I remember to take another C at night. Sometimes I don't.

Hi, Anita. Here's my two cents.

In the year I've been on Atkins, I've been taking a whole lot of supplements. However, in 2004, as I move into late-stage OWL I plan to cut back. What Rob and Maggie said sounds good. I'm convinced that ongoing Atkins provides plenty of nutritional value--with the possible exception of calcium. We "older women" need extra.

I order my supplements from Puritan Pride. Great prices and service.

Thank you Rob, Maggie and Barb. I can handle that. I just know my eyes glazed over when I started reading the supplement chapter in the book. I will be doing good to remember to take them once a day much less what he was talking about. Thanks again. Anita
