Has anyone seen the new Weight Watchers Ad? It features an attractive, overweight woman who is being asked questions about wanting to lose weight. One of the questions goes something to the effect "You don't want to give up carbs like pasta, FRUIT, or bread do you?" The the womas shakes her head no with a frantic look on her face, like someone just asked her to eat a hunk of maggoty cheese!

And yet, WW has just come out with a new line of lc shakes and bars...

I just wish they would choose which side of the fence they want to be on. WW is a great thing, but it seems a little hypocritical to bad-mouth lc on one hand and sell products designed for lc on the other. Pick a team, guys, or stop the double message!

The ad just made my husband and I lugh. AND here they go introducing a line of low carb products...hmmmmmm...any hypocracy here? I can't imagine buying their products for that reason alone.

It is SOOOO possible to have a successful weight management program without spending a lot of money. For many people, investing in weekly meetings is an important incentive, I realize. For others, "substitute" products for favorite foods help them make a commitment.

The beauty of Atkins? For the price of a paperback book, you can change your life forever.

Fresh vegetables, meats, fish, eggs, and cheese actually cost less than processed foods--and way less than fast food. And eventually, you can return to some of the carbs you like.

No program, however much you pay for it, can "make" you do it. A place like LCE (amazingly free!) can really help. Thanks, Andrea, all the great moderators, and helpful participants.

Barb, you speak the truth. Every time I see ads for WW, Jenny Craig, LA weight loss.....etc., I just laugh. What are these people paying for? This site is all I need for rah rah incentive and support. (Although I am looking into getting a support group started through my local Curves - they said YES!!!) I'm hoping to get a small group going where I can help educate people on the proper way to do LC. I'm just getting my ideas in order now. I'm very excited.

Cheftrina,

is SlimFast affiliated with WW? I know they have new lc shakes & bars out. Is that what you speak of? I looked at WW products on-line and couldn't find lc stuff.

Overeaters Anonymous is all over the place, and it's free. And friendly to low-carbers.

I did WW three years ago. I lost 20 lbs over the first 6 months, and then for the next 7 months, NOTHING. I was drinking 3 liters of water every day and also running 4 miles. NOTHING. For 7 months. I would lose 1 lb. one week, gain it back the next week, etc. etc. etc. The leader suggested eating to the max of my points, which I did, and gained 3 lbs in 1 week! (that was when I ran out screaming)

Of course I haven't lost anything on this program either, after 7 weeks, I have lost only 6 lbs on induction and already gained back 2.

I did LA Weightloss in 2002...I did loose 36 pounds....BUT and trust me I m the first to say dont waste money on any of these programs that you have to pay someone to tell you that you need to purchase more weeks to loose more weight!
I was sooooo p***ed when I realized what the heck am I really paying for? All those folks tried to do was make my buy their shakes and bars all the time and even though I told them I couldnt afford to buy them.
And guess what I lost 36 pounds without any of their products.
Yes I did gain back (which is my own fault) but truly it was such a crock.
And they wanted me to come in 3 times a week to weigh in . I had a very small infant at the time so that was really rough.
Just got to be too much and I told them to pretty much shove it.
Ok im done now.....
