The biggest favor you can do yourself is to not start eating bars. After induction, I thought that the bars wouldn't affect me that much. I only had one a couple times a week and only used them as meal replacement. The fact is, they aren't a replacement for real food and they're a vicious trap to get into. They end up working against you by causing cravings or stalling you. My advice would be to stick to real food and not even start on the bars. JMHO.

Cheers!

What works best for me is to not eat the bars, or any other low carb product for that matter.

It's been my experience that they make my insulin levels spike and it's the same as having real suagr in my system.

My two cents....

Eat nuts, instead. The carbs are relatively low, and the numbers are genuine. And they're full of potassium and vitamin E and other things good for your body. And they taste yummy.

I agree - the bars and shakes and stuff are generally not a good idea. The only time I have ever used a bar is on a long bike ride (50+ miles). But, I probably won't do that again - there are better alternatives (like low carb bread and macadamia nut butter - YUM!)

The only time I use bars is when I've been to an all day convention. That will be my lunch with a refillable water bottle for drink. Under those circumstances they work for me. I don't get the afternoon sleepiness.

I have to agree with the advice given so far. When I started on Induction I ate a bar every morning for breakfast. I went into Ketosis and I lost weight steadily for 5 weeks. Then my weight loss stopped. I then moved on to OWL changed my breakfast to berries, nuts and plain yogurt and suddenly started losing again.

After the holidays and a little bit of off plan eating I went back to induction levels in order to get back into Ketosis. I started having the bars for breakfast again. Not only was getting back into Ketosis difficult but I also didn't lose any weight. Again, I have gone back to OWL levels, stopped eating the bars and I have lost 2 pounds so far this week!

For a while it seemed as though I might be one of the lucky ones who could get away with eating them. In the end it doesn't look like it.

Don't even start on them...this way you won't be fooled by early success and then have to wonder what went wrong later!

Just my two cents!
