Hi!

Let's discuss which strips are the best to use. Are they all the same? Which give you the most for your money? I use Ketostix (found behind the pharmacy counter), but find them more expensive than other brands.

I haven’t ever used the strips, and I was thinking about buying some as i start to add in more carbs. I was just wondering which brand to buy. Thanks for starting the thread.

I used the strips before and they were helpful. Someone had once said to get more "bang for your buck" to cut them longwise in half, so you have two strips to use for the cost of 1.

Don't just rely on them though and don't get hung up on how dark the color is. Not to be gross, but when i'm in Ketosis I know it by my breath and a strong smell when I urinate.

Bayer brand Ketostix, available at the pharmacy, are definitely cheaper than Metabostix and other brands displayed with the diet aids. I don't know any other pharmaceutical brands, but a pharmacist anywhere can advise you.

I buy Ketostix at Costco or Wal-Mart. They aren't really necessary, but for positive reinforcement that "something" is happening, turning that little stick purple (or in my case, faintly pink) is a little boost.

I go for Ketostix (made by Bayer). I've used them off and on for 25 years now. The reagents on strips are fragile and easily ruined by too much humidity, so I'd rather spend a little more and get something reliable and do it right.

The best deal that I've found for Ketostix is at Costco. $7.89 for 50 or something like that.
