So folks, tell me about your experiences with almonds.

I've fallen particularly hard for the Blue Diamond Smokehouse Almonds. I could eat a can a day (12 net carbs for the can) but rarely eat more than 1/4 can a day.

One thing I have noticed is I have been able to slack off the stool softener. More fiber from the almonds I imagine.

What say you all?

Almonds are a great food, but I also have trouble eating them in moderation. I look for the small bags. I prefer just the plan roasted ones rather than the smoked as they have too much salt. When I eat too many, it slows my weight loss. I do not recall having any stool issues.

Yeah, almonds will provide plenty of fiber.

I love smokehouse almonds. They're a little pricey for me, though, so I buy the Trader Joe's salted roasted almonds, $3 for a pound. Try not to eat too many -- they're not an all you can eat food. They're a good snack and mobile-emergency food.

Are we all going "nuts"? I love almonds, but like RKCole the smoked ones are too salty for me. I bought a can and put them in a colander and shook them over the sink to get rid of the salt (they were Blue Diamond). I was able to eat them after that. I could also eat the whole can.

I buy my nuts at Walmart. It is the cheapest place around here.

I too am enraptured buy the little nuggets of joy. I buy them at Costco in the 3 lbs jar. Then weight them on my scale.

Much to my suprise, one handful is an ounce.

Of course Macadamians is where it really is at!

Information gladly given, but safety requires no unnecessary conversation.

Lisa, yer crackin' me up!!!!! (still doin all those drugs? )

I'm a nut too. Um I mean nut lover. My weakness is the big 3 lb bags of hulled pistachios from Sam's club. I HAVE to measure out a 1/4 cup or I will eat the WHOLE bag. Almonds used to be my weakness, but since finding these hulled pistachios, I'm afraid the almonds are getting lonely.

I love smoked almonds also. I am not sure where you live but dollar tree stores in my area carry small cans and of course they are only 1 dollar. They also have small cans of cashews. I too can get carried away with nuts so I have to buy in moderation.

And watch the cashews, Colleen. They're much higher in carbs than other nuts.

Just a heads up.

I went to Vitamin City yesterday. They had Shelled Hemp Seeds. The front of the package says, "Tastes great on salads!" It's grown and packaged in Manitoba, Canada. It's fairly low in carbs, so I suppose I could eat it, although I'd rather just show it off to people.
