| I found this tag for LC morning treats and clicked on it. I found myself in the BHG website staring at a Hash Brown Strata (LC of course). There are 2 cups of frozen hashbrowns and some flour and reduced fat product in this recipe. In fact, all of the recipes included some sort of illegal substance (sugar, low fat something, cornmeal, flour, etc.). Each serving (of those I viewed), which must be the puniest, most unsatisfying serving on the planet, had about 15g of carbs. I am not amused. Sus 450/383/200 |

| When low fat became the craze, every manufacturer was coming up with ways to put "low fat" on their labels. The FDA had to finally step in and institute guidelines for what could be legally be labeled "low fat" or "fat Free". I predict it won't be long before they have to do the same with "low carb" labeling. LCE member since March 2002 |

| Sus, I think I saw the same balderdash, only in print form at the check out!!! Exactly as you described. Nothing low carb about it -- and most had like 45 grams per serving ![]() Blessings! | Ya know, they just don't get it. It comes from not understanding a few things, like what lc IS, exactly, and how to do a recipe without the "bad" stuff. They are not familiar with the ingredient subs we use, and cannot fathom eating 30 grams of carbs a day or less. The downside, IMHO, of lc's popularity is a lot of bad info out there, from those who are just trying to ride the wave, and don't do their homework. That means we have to be extra savvy, and be understanding of the confusion some newbies are going to have, seeing stuff like this. Cooking is at once child's play and adult joy. | I bought a low carb cookbook for DH for Christmas. Right before I was gonna wrap it, I started reading it. Most of the recipes had 25 carbs or more per serving!! It called for flour and potatoes, beans and bread! Who are they kidding? It was promptly returned to the store!! Jen Atkins since 11/11/03 5'3" 140/131/115 I really should get a better signature... |
