hi,
I gained four pounds during two weeks and I don't have a clue why. I have been losing 1 pound a week for the last one and a half month and I was pretty happy about the result. And I gained two pounds right before the TOM, which is not abnormal. And today (the last day of TOM) I found myself gain 2 more pounds.
How does this happen??????????? I exercize. 3 times of the Firm Workout a week. i run 5 k 5-6 times a week. I don't cheat. I did egg fast to break a stall but nothing happened. I usually eat
B: two eggs and a cheese+optional tomato
L salad+ grilled chicken
D chicken wings or sea food with salad+brocolli or salad.
s: nuts or chese. I Drink more than 68 oz of water. I am in ketosis. My measurement did not change either during the last two weeks, in case you are wondering.

I always thought that I can live with stalls. But gaining back??? I am not sure that I can live with that. I still have 20 more pounds to lose.
Please HELP

You say these last 2 pounds were on the last day of TOM?
Why don't you wait a few days and see if they don't disappear on their own?
More than likely, they are water weight gain. It is not uncommon for women to gain up to 5 pounds during TOM, so these 4 may disappear as quickly as they came. It's too soon to panic or become discouraged.

Another thought is that you *might* be putting on muscle. I don't know what your diet history is, but if you have always done "low-fat" and "low-cal," your body may be **rejoicing** at all the wonderful protein you are now eating and it may be doing some **muscle-tissue repair**... this is especially possible since you are exercising frequently.
This sort of gain is also temporary and often results in a larger *Whoosh* later -- once your body's metabolism increases due to the larger muscle mass.

Take a deep breath and don't step on the scale for about a week. Also, you seriously need to increase your water intake!
68 oz. is barely the MINIMUM for someone on a *regular diet*. This woe (way of eating) requires MUCH more water due to it's diuretic nature. If you don't drink enough, your body is more likely to hold onto water -- especially during TOM. Please read the "Drink Your Water!" thread at the top of the newbies forum.
I wish you the best & hope you get a *whoosh* soon!

Summer

In my experience, something that drastic and sudden is almost always water. You might have bloated up a little extra (did you take anything for cramps, maybe?) at the end.

Drink your water today and tomorrow and chances are the 2 lbs (and maybe 1-2 of their friends) will be gone by Friday.

I experienced a sudden gain back in Sept. I picked up 10 pounds in about 2 weeks. I didn't cheat, I was exercising...I had no clue what the deal was. The 10 stuck for 2 more weeks, but at least it wasn't going up. So I started thinking....what changed? Did anything? I remembered I had bought a new fiber pill, that SAID sugar free. Turned out it had sugar and cornstarch!! I was sooo ticked off.

I dropped it like a bad habit. 2 weeks after dropping it, I had lost that pesky 10 pounds, and was on my way again. I learned the REALLY hard way to watch what is in everything.

At Christmas this happened again, but with 8 pounds. I was much quicker on the ball and figured out it was 2 much salt.....once I lowered my salt, I dropped 13 pounds in one week. Definatly retained water from too much salt.

So...take a look. See if there is any difference, no matter how small or insignigicant it may seem. It could be your culprit

The same thing happened to me. It was on Christmas Eve and my normal weigh in day. I stepped on the scales to find a 10 pound gain! Right out of the blue, I had not cheated, I had not changed anything, NOTHING! I got on the comp and came straight here. I think I named the thread PANIC! It took 2 weeks to get that 10 pounds off. I still have no clue what it was but I lost 6 pounds the first week and that last 4 the next week. GO FIGURE! My body does strange things sometimes. The really neat thing was though that I had this board to come to this time. If I had been on my own like in the past I would have ditched the diet immediately and went face down in the nearest carb feast I could find. Just hang in there it will go away along with more. Just stick with it you will see. Anita

Summer you read my mind. I am wondering if the Firm Workout is a muscle building program. More muscle, more weight. That might explain why I haven't dropped any weight for a loooooooong time. I am going to Curves religiously and I know I am building new muscle. I even FEEL stronger.

Water retention is a good bet too.

Probably water weight. It happens all the time for miscellaneous reasons. Act like you don't know it's there and before you know it, it won't.

This has happened to me several times. Usually when I've consumed too many salty and/or nitrate high foods. I just back off salty stuff and cured meats and generally the water weight leaves in 3 or 4 days at most (YMMV). I can always tell when it's happening too, I get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night 4 or 5 times. Good luck but be patient.
