I have been home for 3 days with the stomache flu. Terrible 3 days. I am craving my comfort food when I get sick and that is soup. I went to the cupboard, knowing I only had campbells tomotoe, chicken etc. I was in shock when I read the carbs on the back.

I need help. I am not real picky of what kind of soup. I do not feel well enough to make homemade. I am diabetic and right now I really need to get the deydration under control. My heathfood store is just up the street. Has anyone tried low carb soups? What brand? Name? or what other food suggestions do you have. The doctors office suggested bananas and rice. I just know that I can eat something else that is better for me and not such high carbs.

Thanks for any advise.

[i]Hi Kim, I lived off homemade low-carb soup for two days when I got the sniffles. I made it from chopped chicken breast, celery, red peppers, bell petters and butter. I allowed the chicken to get tender in the butter, and then I added the other ingrediates. Of course, I used lemon pepper as my seasoning. It was delicious! Not only that, my sniffles disappeared.

I hope that this recipe will work for you!

Still pressing towards my goal!

As a diabetic, the first thing you need to do with stomach flu is call your doctor! Stomach flu can be life threatening for a diabetic. I'm especially concerned that you aren't well enough to fix something to eat.

In the mean time...
Use some plain chicken broth, even the powdered stuff is fine, add a few bits of chicken and a splash of cream. This will at least get some nutrients in you.

Drink herbal teas like camomille and peppermint. The best tummy tea is made from fresh ginger root. Just peel and bit and slice it up., then drop in in boiling water for a minute or 2. You can add some lemon and sweetner if you like. It tastes like hot ginger ale and work great!

Take care, let us know how you're doing, and watch those blood sugars!

Now go call your doc!

I'm going to close the thread, because you need medical advice and we can't provide that here.
